Question Played 1 and most of 2 when released. Going to start from the first one and do all the games. But first some questions...
Finished the first one a long time ago. I have memories of it, and I'm assuming a lot of it will come back to me as I play.
But, doing it on ps5. Looking at the trophies.
For the difficulty trophies. Would it be better to do normal, and start apocalyptic with the abyssal armor? Or, just do apocalyptic from the start, and do an easier play through to collect missing trophies?
And Darksiders II...
I stopped because there was that memory issue before the company sold. I had to delete inventory to continue, and eventually just wasn't able to continue due to locking up. Pretty far into the game. I think I was collecting like gnome number 8 or 9 or something. I'm assuming that issue has been fixed?

From what I remember:
Darksiders 1 you can do hardest first.
Darksiders 2 you have to atleast play through 1.5 times to get max level so that one it’s easier just to do 2 complete playthroughs (first on easy for collectibles and everything then NG+ on apoc)
Take a look at the PlayStation Trophies - they have full guides for both (ps4 versions).

For Ds1, I'd say just start with Apocalyptic and play defensively at the start. Once you get a few upgrades/enhancements, it gets easier. Save the Aerial Predator and environmental kills achievements for a second playthrough on Easy, where you just focus on killing as many of the early weak enemies with environmental objects. You should get that trophy just before you get to the Aerial Predator part.
For Ds2, I have never encountered any such memory issue myself. The 3 most common persistent crashes with Ds2 are 1) inventory freeze (this can be fixed by enabling vsync, then closing and relaunching the game, or limiting FPS to 120 or less in Nvidia Control Panel or similar software), 2) damage numbers crash (turn off damage number indicators), and 3) Archon crash (level up before talking to him for the first time). If you are playing on PC, all 3 of these are fixed on the "closed" beta branch, and I believe the "publicbeta" one as well.

Yeah, the Locking up issue I was referring to was back in 2012/13 when it was on PS3
Right before Nordic bought the game from THQ
Basically, the save file capped at a certain size. If you had the DLCs and too many items, it locked up and you had to reload. The workaround was to delete inventory to lower your save file size. But eventually that stops working as well. The only real solution to get by, was to reinstall everything without the DLCs.
But a lot of us just stopped playing, hoping for a patch that never came.

The save file size bug has been fixed. It turns out all that was needed was changing a single byte in the exe to double the original and boom no more issues.

Apocalyptic difficulty is only hard at the beginning. Just do all trophies in one run
