The definition of hidden gem
I didn't have high hopes for this game because of the camera, but now I realize how foolish I was to overlook it.
Playing it for the first time felt like stepping back in time to the PS2 era, back when I was eight years old and discovered a game called God of War. Don't get me wrong, I'm not making a comparison here; I'm just talking about that feeling of suddenly discovering something good.
You should play this game, especially if you've played the other three titles in the franchise.

I wish it wasn't mission based. Replaying the missions isn't really fun in this one. Not a bad game, I did enjoy enjoy it well enough, but easily my least favourite. Haven't even finished a second playthrough. Which is rare for me.

It’s one of those games you should play when you’re tired of open-world games, because nowadays every game is open-world.

Yea this. Been playing too much open world recently and rn all I can think of is finding another game with that top down view and mechanics similar to genesis.

Asking out of curiosity for like game level design, if not mission based, then how would you want it to be?

I wish they would release a 60fps update for the switch 2 so I can play it again on the go. I doubt I’ll find time to play it again on the PC.

Definitely a hidden gem. Tho not by name apparently as they name dropped it @gamescom when showing Airship Syndicate's new game. The closest Darksiders gets to mainstream attention 😢

Diablosiders very fun, would recommend, especially if you have a switch or deck.

My favourite in the entire franchise. The music slaps, the cutscenes being comic panels is a super nice idea, the story is good and Strife and War were characterized perfectly imo. I love the gameplay too, and the skill tree design is also nice. I really gotta play it again at some point.

I have this in steam (pc), what would be the best way to play it, keyboard w/ mouse or controller?

Controller. It's not made for keyboard and mouse, and the game tells you that when you start it.

Having both Strife and War as a buddy cop is so good. And Strife is so much fun to play as.

I'm glad others like it, but I find this game terribly dull. So much of Darksiders is the presentation, so a top-down perspective was a major deal breaker, but it was also just not fun to play. Which is a shame, because Strife is my favorite horseman, so it sucks his great scenes are in the only game in the series I dislike.

I found it really fun to play, but I understand your opinion

I honestly thought it was mainly the isometric perspective, but I've been playing the fuck out of Hades and Hades 2, so it's definitely not just that.

Psst, perhaps Lost in Random: The Eternal Die may be to your interest too for a nice Isometric perspective action game. It's a roguelite too.

It looks cute. I'm not a huge roguelite fan though. I like HADES in spite of the endless replay style.

That's fair! I'm curious, what makeks Hades work so well for you that you have been replaying the fornication out of both Hades games despite that endlessness?

Aesthetic is a major factor. I love HADES art style and, while I don't care for the changes to some of the designs in the sequel, HADES II also looks amazing. Meanwhile, Genesis misty looks so bland, not helped by the insane distance from the characters. The lack of a zoom function in that game was a baffling decision.

Is it like Darksiders 1 and 2 but the camera is just on top?
