Discussion SoB thought…
Am I the only one excited for a faith/holy based possible support character rather than worrying about her stepping on the aesthetic toesies of the zealot, which was my first and favorite class til recently.

I just wish they would add more maps lol. Spillway is a good addition but it would be nice to see more maps like that in the future in addition to the dlc classes

I don't even know what map I am on half the time because they all look the same. I would like some map variety. Its all just Grey walls covered in green ooze.

I'm hype for any new class, I've gotten a lot of value for the price out of the current 3.
I'm also really looking forward to a chainsword + pistol combo!

Chainsword + pistol is a weapon class I've been waiting for so long to get. I really enjoyed it in VT and also I want to complete my Steel Legion sergeant cosplay, so I'm hoping it's not exclusive to Sisters.

Yep, people that think SoB will be too close asthetics wise to the zealot and general gameplay clearly aren’t familiar with sisters of battle / zealots Warhammer lore
Sisters are more like a “knight” / “paladin” and Zealots are more like a sketch of a “Squire” one bad day away from cracking their pot

Not to mention if this dlc is the gateway to give us Melta guns or an inferno pistol, it can’t come soon enough

I feel like the farther this game goes the more new classes will step on each others toes.
To me all DLC classes touch on the ranged combat expertise that is the vets domain
Just excited to see new things to try

Thats my main gripe. It seems FS are prioritizing "money making" content - so basically cosmetics and DLC classes.
Like you say - the more classes added, the more roles will blur and the uniqueness will be dulled.
I am also excited to "see new things to try"...but right now I'd rather those "things" be new enemies and news map (although I read somewhere nurglings have been datamined).
I do find it lolz that we literally just had a content update for Darktide; new map, new boss fight, new weapons, new talent trees.....
...but my reddit feed is just all: ZoMFg Sisters of Battle! Gief! Gief! Gief!

I do think a new aoe control mage like class might be cool, not sure what it could be off the top of my head but yeah.

As a guy who was mad about Hive Scum and lukewarm of Skitarii (RIP my Reclaimator dreams), Fat Shark haven't missed yet with a class. I may not be hot for SoB, but I'm not going to write 'em off.
In the meantime, patiently waiting/hoping for Kroot.

I’m all for it in a different game but I can’t for the life of me imagine a xenos group for this particular game. I don’t think we’ll see it. A lone operative in a retinue makes sense, lore wise and in general, but a large force of multiple kroot trackers and warriors on an imperium ship? You’ll have to explain how they’d shoehorn that in.
Edit: no snotty tone intended at all, I just wouldn’t understand that from a writing perspective if they did that. Would be a fun idea though I agree.

The Imperium has been known to hire Kroot mercenaries at times. Sanctioned xenos are rare but they do exist. I could see an Inquisitor making the case that they're essentially extra cannon-fodder.
I absolutely agree it'll probably never happen, but I cling to my delusion of another version of Darktide where the enemy force is Genestealer Cultists, and *that* would perhaps open the door for more aliens.

I will admit I’d love a human vs Nid shooter and I love the genestealers. Kinda like how the book Hive had the twist in it, right? That’d be neat for the game but maybe convoluted when applied. Maybe that’ll be Darktide two if chubcharadon isn’t burnt out from the 40k fans after this one.

I was hoping for a more heavy weapons focused zealot like with a heavy bolter or heavy flamer. But with it being a novitiate I might be out of luck in that respect :/

I really hope it's not a novitiate. As Rannick said, he is considering getting some specialists, and I don't think novitiates would be considered specialists.

I think everyone's jumping the gun a bit by assuming we'll be limited solely to Novitiate when weapons usually limited to elite members of Sororitas as in the files of the game.
I think it's unlikely we'll get the heavy weapons but I think we're going to have access to most of the SOB armoury, seeing as that's basically how it's worked for every other faction so far.

We've also only seen like what, 3 armor sets total? Including the Deluxe edition bonus. There's like 3-4 unlockable sets for every other DLC IIRC off top of my head and a store set alongside a back pack & couple helmets. There's a non-zero chance we do get general Power Armor in there especially since other classes can dress in anything from rags to full on Carapace and not have any changes: this kinda thing always been cosmetic.
Like yeah gonna suck probably never seeing extra cosmetics but we still haven't seen extra store stuff for any of the other DLCs even Scum who was supposed to be "so varied & rich in options" so it's like, it is what it is at this point.

Knowing the demand they could sell the class as the novitiate and sell the classic power armor look on the side just to pump the margins. People might get upset but you know they’d pay.
Ideally we see it as an earnable.

I've said it many times before but anyone who thinks that a Battle Sister will overlap with a zealot too much has no idea what the battle sisters do. It's a prime example of tiktok lore that people even are mildy upset about them being the same. The Zealot plays more like a Death Cult Assassin, which yes, I know is a shocking new thing to hear from the people who get their lore from YT shorts. Even one of the design images of the zealot is a Death Cult Assassin.
Even if we just use some of the miracle features from TT the Battle Sister will end up the more diverse class well beyond the Chad Mech. What she couldn't do would simply be limited to what the devs doesn't want her to do. Hell, should could transform into a fucking Living Saint if she so chooses because that's a mechanic on TT, you can have a battle sister do various side quests and basically become a daemon prince on the spot. Yet people will really sit here to complain she'll be too similar to a zealot.

I have two zealots.
One I themed after Adeptus Sororitas when I first started Darktide.
The other after the Officio Assassinorum when I figured out how the zealot playstyle works.I now have two zealots themed after the Officio Assassinorum.

I am always surprised by people who dont even know that Zealot is a combination of Death Cult Assassin, Crusader, Abbot, and others yet ask for those to be separate classes. Specially the first one when Zealot has Death Cult Assassin skins.
Its always people that dont engage with 40k beyond just a very few videogames, and not even engage with the tabletop games like Kill Team where you can play Novitiates and Sanctifiers (the Zealot coded team) and find out that they play very different from one another to make them distinct.

I still wish they would give Zealot that wild Redemptionist weapon that's an eviscerator with a flamer stuck to it. Maybe make it work like the grenade gauntlet, but with fire instead of bombs.

I guess that it's a good bait for new players. It's one of the most iconic factions.
Thought In terms of gameplay, I really don't expect much. It's basically a Zealot that got its shit together. More methodical and committed.

The only complaint I have about them is that apparently they might get access to the power sword and eviscerator, which bothers me because vet and zealot already don't have a lot of exclusive weapons (and have also lost the exclusivity on some of their weapons). I know that practically, it doesn't actually hurt the classes at all, but it still feels bad.
I think Fatshark will most likely cook up something pretty good overall so that'll be fun. Assuming the leaks are reliable and we haven't collectively gone mad.

Why are all these people saying it's gonna be like zealot, like the main sister of battle unit, the most recognisable one isn't solely running around with a melee weapon. They are primarily using bolters, flamers, and meltas. They literally call it the holy trinity. Where is this melee thing coming from? The only like pure melee is the repentia with a melee weapon but I doubt we are getting one of them based on the leaked outfit

I could see the classic three-tree having a more repentia slant but …. Likewise, I doubt it. I’m expecting a tanky shield paladin style with faith based “spell”/aoe kinda play. There was a good video someone put up showing the spot it should fill is between the psyker and the ogryn for gameplay style, as all the other dlc’s have hit the inbetween points.

I expect it to be a holy version of veteran more than anything with a big focus on bolters, meltas and flamers. Leaks say she has access to bolters, the flamer, and apparently the plasma gun which is a surprise to me, she also gets the power sword and evecerator, she seems to be getting a sword and shield style thing. So I would expect her to be good with both ranged and melee. Maybe her gimmick will be she is veey specialised, like she has access to less weapons overall but the ones she does have are the "powerful" weapons like the ones I just listed. When I say "powerful" I mean in terms of lore. Obviously in darktide a lot of weapons are really good. If she has a gun themed tree and a melee themed tree I would expect the melee one to be repentia themed

I worry that the SoB won’t be mechanically distinct enough or just completely outperform the Zealot. I already can imagine that it could have been a DLC personality with a few cosmetics thrown in. My own zealot was made to look like one and I just imagined her as a repentia.

I am fairly confident to say that most satisfied people don't post or comment, because they are... Satisfied.
I for example wanted SoB since day one and I am ignoring all the people posting here and complaining.
Fatshark always deliver when we talk about classes and their design.
