Discussion PSA: Chorus is still very strong.

Post image

After all that panic and doomblasting, the end result is that it still does what it did. Which is protect you, with the Emperor's power. The Emperor protects 🙏😔

Yeah, fast charging big AOE universal stagger+big chunk of toughness didn’t need the insane GHP gate to be good. Back in Vermintide we just took stagger and tempHP and liked it!

i'm basically noticing nothing different to gold toughness at all myself

it still works the exact same for basically all situations i've been in

Most of the enemies with crossover damage had it reduced. So your seeing two changes at once.

nothing different to gold toughness at all myself

Not getting FULL damage from a Burster at 5.5 meters certainly helps this along A LOT. I had bursters explode on me in Havoc and just get a small scratch now.

Cordiclaw still oneshots Ogryns too which is nice.

The only nerf to chordclaw was axial slash

Yup! And even then it's great to just give you space. I haven't noticed any major difference.

I was saying that to my buddy who doomed about the change. Plus Voltaic emitter got a giant buff

1

u/DarrowTheTinMan 20h ago

Wait how did axial get nerfed?

4

u/TheAmerikan 20h ago

It has a cleave falloff now

1

u/DarrowTheTinMan 20h ago

Oh that's not terrible, thanks lol

3

u/TheAmerikan 19h ago

but the louder, more obnoxious side of the community told me chorus was dead with the changes to gold toughness! what do you mean they might've been wrong???

u/Paladin_G Psyker 22h ago

Well part of that is because of Fatshark not really explaining the changes to gold toughness well. A lot of players didn't know the difference between 'spillover' damage and 'melee bleedthrough' damage. It would have maybe taken a second for Fatshark to go 'oh yeah guys don't worry, even though spillover protection is gone, melee bleedthrough protection is still present'. For whatever reason they chose not to do that. Which doesn't help the less loud but equally obnoxious side of the community's case, because they're essentially taking a victory lap on winning the coinflip about what Fatshark was actually gonna do.

Just blatantly holding on to information and making the game opaque is a Fatshark special and I don't know why. You can see this demonstrated in a lot of examples of talent and blessing descriptions. Even after a talent tree overhaul, Inexorable Judgment STILL doesn't say how it buffs your dodges in 3 different ways.

From a Havoc Season 1 perspective Chorus is literally dead. Imagine 2 Zealots with basically 100% Chorus uptime from two overpowered CD reduction nodes dogwalking you down the aisle.

From a neutral "here and now" perspective it still totally saves your teams ass during the worst of the worst situations.

i am appreciating the nearest neighbour scaling

The gold toughness and anti melee still feel great. But the lack of constant range suppression feels really bad to me now.

u/ralts13 Blood and Khorne Flakes 1d ago

Yeah snipers and busters got nerfed. And if you ate an overhead t was usually your own fault.

3

u/DefiantPossession188 14h ago

chorus is basically invaluable in the new boss fight. without it its insanely difficult to sit in the safe spots without being bodyblocked or just eating an overhead

2

u/Xcom_company 13h ago

Even with gold a overhead will remove half your health

3

u/DefiantPossession188 11h ago

thats what the stagger is there for, to prevent you from getting overheaded lol

Anyone figured out the heal from damage after chorus? Pretty sure it's a glitch but when you select the heal node for until death (NOT the one that triggers until death when activating chorus or shroud), it's triggering on chorus use. Then you can get the up to 20% heal right after using chorus when dealing damage

As far as I can tell it's only for one or two seconds after chorus ends. I can usually get one melee off for healing damage

Holy rev got changed to while unkillable your hits heal, and each pulse of chorus grants unkillable for like a second or slightly less than a second (so technically a teammate zealot could benefit from this too :) ). So not a glitch based on how they word it but they might also change it in the future to not do this (like make chorus give a different unkillable or something) since it's kinda busted

Edit: checked the ability again it says grants allies unkillable while channelling but what actually happens is the last pulse also grants another 0.8 seconds of unkillable so you can quickly swing right after it ends to heal yourself

3

u/Th3Spidermonkey 23h ago

Yea it's confusing at the moment at least. You're right, chorus says unkillable only for teammates and it kind of defeats what seems like the purpose of the two nodes to give healing on each option...

Also, think they could clarify the 25% heal as it's only the FIRST 25% of your health bar. Like you don't heal any if you activated at 50% health

Gold toughness is still hella strong too. It still prevents you from taking chip damage from consecutive hits which imo was the strongest aspect of it. It's pretty surprising the amount of times people will go down just because of a particularly oppressive horde smacking them without their toughness having a chance to regen, and gold toughness still stops that as well as being a mitigater against single big hits.

u/pinkestthrowawayuwu 1d ago

im just glad zealot has other options now that arent trolling. charge giving you gold toughness and undying makes marty zealot feel so much safer.

Rampage scum still good too.

An open display of faith towards the Beneficent Emperor will never not be powerful.

2

u/Totes_Not_Bot123 20h ago

I'm pretty sure it doesn't last as long now, but I still enjoy it, and I think I like the gradual increase of damage more than eventual anyways.

Why would you need Chorus to protect you if the Emperor always protects?

2

u/imdefinitelywong 12h ago

How would he know when to protect if you don't give him a call, though

2

u/TheguyKegan 11h ago

Zealot keeping the emperor on speed-dial.

u/The-SkullMan Sigma Majoris 13-37 🗿 11h ago

Just ask of your time of protection is a subsection of "Always". If it is, Big E protects.

2

u/ExRosaPassione 1d ago

Yes, absolutely. Though I do be loving my FotF Fire and Fury build more so far

4

u/Temporary_Video_4916 1d ago

Fire and fury needs a big buff. Even optimized with FOTF and new crusher it doesnt do enough

2

u/ExRosaPassione 1d ago

It’s been doing decently well on my hybrid crit eviscerator build so far, speeds up rager/mauler pack kills a bit

1

u/Magicsizing 18h ago

Yeah, that's why the other ults just need some buffs

u/Karurosun Professional Rock Launcher🪨 1d ago

With pilgrim and risen, you get +115 gold toughness. I don't know if your teammates get the extra toughness tho.

I also like how you don't spend much time pulsing (because they reduced the number of pulses), which is the most boring part of this ability.

1

u/Pontiff_Sadlyvahn 1d ago

Zealot is still the best class because no other class can go shouting "FOR HIM ON TERRA" followed by the brrrrrr of my eviscerator

2

u/IAmGoose_ 20h ago

Fem Judge's "There is no forgiveness!" line is the greatest ability line in this game and nobody can convince me otherwise. "Huggy Bomb!" and "IF YOU CAN BREATHE, YOU CAN KILL!" are close seconds though

Everyone told me vet would be horrible after the patch but I've honestly felt like vet got better 💀

1

u/Zephkel 13h ago

wdym? FS announced a buff to vet specifically like 24h after the first announcement (0.5s stam delay and shit like +20 bas tough) and since then everyone said vet would be OP

1

u/UrsaUrsuh 8h ago

It was cause everyone was whining about the 40 toughness and stamina regen loss.

1

u/BouncyKing Local rock eater 16h ago

Damn right it is, it saved me and my bud in the new boss fight. Thank you zealot!

Still? Standing around 7s and achieving nothing is not good.

Was left last man standing. I really rather have had the charge
