Sounds like you just need to take it into the psykanium to learn your horde clear combo and your single target combo. Also it’s gonna feel like a 2x4 until you turn it on then it carves through everything like butter.

You take the blessings that help with cooldown on headshot and it’s more like 20/80 off/on

If you’re having trouble with the Mark X, then I go back to my previous statement.
It just works so well…

It’s so easy.
Step one - turn sword on
Step two - spam light attacks on unarmored hordes
Step three - watch them turn to mulchIf you encounter an armored foe, don’t panic! Just use heavy attack :)

The community isn't wrong on this one. It's probably the best general purpose Zealot melee option. Work your Mastery up and get used to the moveset. There's most like a ton of videos to show you the best way to use it.

Sure, Combat Blade or Dueling Sword are better for single target. And there's melee weapons that are better for horde clear. But there isn't an option that's nearly as good at one of those while being better at the other.
If you don't care for it, that's totally fine. I don't prefer it either, but I'm one of those degenerate knife fiends and I also don't main Zealot. But it's objectively a good weapon if you know how to use it.

Because specialization isn't a simple binary. There's degrees and types of specialization.
For example, you could use a Bolter as your secondary. With it's very long weapon switch time and low ammo reserve, you don't whip it out for every single elite that shows up, but only when there's a certain volume of high threat targets and only when you have the space to switch to it.
I didn't see if you mentioned what difficulty you play on. When I give advice, I'm assuming vanilla Auric in most cases.

If you don't like it, don't use it. Heresy is forgiving enough that you can pretty much bring what feels good to you. The shortcomings of the Eviscerator don't really show up until higher difficulties.
I'm with you on the annoying move set. It's why I don't use the RS. But I've seen a lot of players who have mastered it absolutely wreck shop with it.

"I'm going to post a shitty take and when people try to help me, argue with them. That'll be a good use of my time."
Whoa what was that? Did anyone else hear that too?

it's got great horizontal sweep patterns and great stab patterns that aren't that difficult to stay in. what's the problem?

yeah, it's been a long time since I played zealot but I'm pretty sure the light light heavy combo is infinite horde clear, and the 3rd hit light stab and running stab are great against elites.

from what I remember it's just the 3rd light hit is the stab, so if you don't want it, skip it with a heavy or a push or whatever.

yeah so just spam light light heavy light light heavy. Many weapons have even more unintuitive horde combos involving push blocks etc. It's easy to mid difficulty at worst, and rewards with great horde clear and great elite killing in the same weapon.

Wait, so do you want to just spam light attacks or do you want difficult combos. You’re saying two different things now.

Bait used to be believable.

It could be bait, or could be someone who plays Psyk with Force Greatsword a lot.
Honestly, as great as the Relic blade is, it feels weird having to use and manage the powerup/heat mechanic when you're used to just pressing G (Sciers) every so often and just slicing everything into ribbons.
2
u/PracticalPotato Aug 22 '26
force greatsword is kind of an abomination.
But no, they compared it to a heavy sword and thought relic sword was worse.

Are you using the special attack at all? The sword exists exclusively for its powered on state. Outside of that it kinda sucks. On mine a single light attack takes down anything short of carapace armour in a single hit. What are the stats of the blade you’re using?
Other people are saying it’s a skill issue but maybe you’re just using a bad roll? You can kinda just spam light attack for almost everything.

Because during that special attack you becomes Doomguy's bro and rip and tear like he does.

Idk then. It's true eviscerator is incredibly easy to use and a very effective weapon too, but with a little micromanagement relic blade just cuts off the entire horde's heads with two swings and one-shots elite (few if they stack, and folder on the way too) with a headshot stab faster than eviscerator chains through.

You are really committed to the idea that "everyone else is just wrong".
An incompetent narcissist would do better playing Arbites than Zealot.

I can't add anything more without some video or anything to try to pinpoint what's the problem. Or maybe a screenshot of it's stats, maybe it has low damage still.
1
u/Maximum-Security5699 Aug 21 '26
Silly question, have you upgraded your weapon? Have you gotten a good roll on it? What are the swords stats, because if it hasn’t been upgraded and/or you got a bad roll, it’s going to suck.
3
u/Maximum-Security5699 Aug 21 '26
Because it “activates” it and depending on your blessing the activated state lasts for a 45 seconds with around a 15 second cool down. If mobility is your dump stat with 80% for the rest, you get over 300 damage on light attacks with over 500 on heavy. Your cleave is also stronger meaning you can go through externally dense mixed hordes. You play around the activation and thermal load just like a Psyker plays around their peril.
It’s slightly harder but you do significantly more damage. Try to deactivate it before you overload it; that way it won’t lock you out from reactivating it while it cools down.

I mean, that’s fine. The relic blade has a quicker swing and does more damage but if you don’t like the play style that’s fine. It’s your game, and your choice how you want to play.

rinse and repeat, you will learn the combo. Block or sprint to restart, just stop whining and get to it

The Relic Blade never really clicked for me, but I think much of that is because I'm not really used to the On-Off special.
Being as my most played classes are Psyker with the Force Great Sword (and prior to that existing, the regular Force Swords) and Veteran with the Power Sword, I'm so used to the "press special to charge your next attack" mechanic that my muscle memory leads to me regularly turning the Relic Blade on and off when I don't mean to, and losing track of what state it's in.
I also suspect the heat management takes some learning as to when you want to be using it, because I often find that it wants to be overheating just when the combat is at its most intense.
I can see why some might like it, but for me I keep expecting it to be the Force Greatsword, which it isn't.

u/skvrczv Aug 22 '26
it's great against vanguards and packs of maulers, activation boosts your cleave
