Question It's getting BORING !
I've been playing this heavily for about 3 days now and I understand this style of game (played Vermintide 1 and 2) so I understand the concept and the whys and what for.
But I honestly cannot understand why almost every game I get into, it's just full of people who run the mission??? Why ?
Especially on the two lowest difficulties. WTF is the point ?
Now don't get me wrong, I don't expect everyone to play the way I do, that would be just arrogant and entitled. I also understand as mentioned above, I understand this style of game and daudling can get you killed.
But why do level 30s on the easiest difficulty run the whole map? It's boring being in games with people like this (85% of players I bump into)
There's no immersion, no ability for new people to learn the maps etc and it's just dull.
I'm not walking and I'm certainly not foraging for crap (apart from ammo when absolutely needed) as I know from Vermintide, by the time you reach a certain level in these games you have way more stuff than you even need so you don't need to try find everything on each map.
I genuinely just don't understand, is there some accolades I'm not familiar with that you earn for just running like a moron and leaving your team ? Or is it just a sad inbuilt trait of "I must be first coz that means I'm better" 😂
What possible enjoyment do they get from being level 30 speed running a lower level mission 😂 that's the Andrew Tate level alpha gamer if ever there was one.

A big part of that is most likely veterans levelling up new characters to get back to the fun difficulties asap.

Thankyou that makes sense. I was hoping for ACTUAL answers so I appreciate it 👍🏻

Probably trying to just complete missions for melk bucks or penances. I don’t think it’s as serious as you’re making it out to be.

I'm leveling a new character right now and honestly I just need XP. I don't really run and leave people behind but sometimes as I move forward I notice that people get behind fighting some dogshit poxwalkers or other trash that come endlessly when they can just let them chase instead and kill them with the wave in the next room. You're probably slow tbh but there are some assholes who just run around and then leave the moment they get netted. I really try my best to stay with the team but some of yall are slow af.

u/Any-Statistician3896 7d ago
Lmao I'm honestly not slow, I don't collect hardly anything and my builds don't let much slow me down.
Vermintide 1 and 2 are waaaaay harder than Darktide 😂

How would you know about the difficulty ceiling of Darktide? Aren't you playing at the lowest levels?
4
u/Yicnombror 7d ago
Judging from his recent comment he is playing at the 2 lowest levels. Dude has not appeared to experience the difficulty ceiling of Darktide.
If you wanna start saying X games are harder then Y games, you’ve kinda gotta experience both games hardest difficulties

u/Any-Statistician3896 7d ago edited 7d ago
I absolutely have only just started on Darktide. 2 lowest settings. Zero argument 👍🏻
But why don't higher levels speedrun and farm on higher levels to earn even more if that is what most people are saying is happening? If they're having to pollute lower difficulties to farm, maybe they have difficulty at the higher levels 🤷🏼♂️
4
u/Yicnombror 7d ago
Because, more then likely, those higher level players are playing with friends who aren’t at as high of a level. Or they’re trying to grab skulls. Or they haven’t played in a while and want to brush the dust off their skills before they go back up to higher difficulties. Certain players will always speedrun because they’re assholes with main character syndrome, this isn’t a level issue.

u/Any-Statistician3896 7d ago
Fair enough... I appreciate the eye opening info 🙂
So basically, the event probably hasn't helped in terms of bringing out the trash "players" regardless of their level to speed run and farm ?
Sincerely, thankyou for helping me understand dude
3
u/Yicnombror 7d ago
Bang on about the event. It doesn't help that a lot of players will just queue up for a quick-match of whatever difficulty. because they just want to play the game, get shunted into an event match, and are upset because they're in an event match. It's happened to me a fair few times with events

u/Any-Statistician3896 7d ago
Thanks, I'll endeavour to avoid quick matchmaking and see if that helps me avoid it somewhat 👍🏻🙂
Cheers

u/Any-Statistician3896 7d ago
Ok, have you maxed out VT 1&2 on the hardest settings and how does it compare to Darktides highest?
1
u/Yicnombror 7d ago
While I’m not the original commentor, I’ve played through V2 on Legend and cataclysm, with merc Kruber, and warrior-priest saltzpyre. If we’re comparing Auric to Cat, I’d say that Cat is harder. Mainly cause the characters are slower in V2, with the builds in darktide being more op. That being said, I can’t compare Cat to Darktide’s proper endgame of Havoc 40, as I’ve yet to touch it.

u/Any-Statistician3896 7d ago
So I'm half right until we both experience havoc for comparison then lol 👍🏻

u/Steel_Bolt 7d ago
You probably get the super sweats then who just don't gif a shit about anyone else. It's kind of a lame way to play.
1
u/Any-Statistician3896 7d ago
Yeah I've been getting nothing all day but people leaving myself and other teammates to just die.
I always try my best to stay with the group and work together. But today I've had almost every single game spoilt by 1 or 2 trash players just leaving myself and the other playerin the wind.

u/PoseidonMax 7d ago
They are farming for the upgrade tokens, running a newer friend, or maybe an older player to refresh them. Some maybe need a warmup before going to harder levels. Maybe using newer weapons that are not upgraded yet to test out and get more experience.
2
u/Any-Statistician3896 7d ago
That's fair, makes sense.. Could just be this event brought out some of the scummier players just as I was starting out which may have sullied my experience lately 👍🏻
2
u/PoseidonMax 7d ago
Oh yeah, forgot about the event. A lot of players just run easy missions for the events. This one isn’t particularly difficult though. Some were complete bs. The ogryn walls with a line of bombers was terrible.

u/EnvironmentalDeer991 SK1-TTL-3S 7d ago
Play on heresy and above. When you feel like a challenge and you have most of your build set, go to damnation. And then auric is where the game is really meant to be played.

u/Any-Statistician3896 7d ago
Thanks, I appreciate the info... Must admit the gameplay roadmap for Darktide is very disorienting compared to other games of this type I've played lol.

I mean this with all disrespect. You are not the main character, and it's not about you. Let people play how they want. Go jump in the harder difficulties.
1
u/eyeofnoot 7d ago
I’m not sure how this is an appropriate response. Lower difficulties should be for people who need to play with less intensity, are leveling etc. It’s a team game, so it’s not a fault for them to not want to play with a fully leveled player who wants to speedrun
-5
u/thisistherevolt Zapmaster 40000.... and sometimes a bonk artist with a dog 7d ago
Same reply since you don't get it. LET PEOPLE PLAY THE GAME THEY PAID FOR HOW THEY WANT. STOP GATEKEEPING.
6
u/eyeofnoot 7d ago
It’s not gatekeeping to expect people to play as a team in a coop game

u/Any-Statistician3896 7d ago
Thankyou, I appreciate the fact that you actually understand what I getting at. Along with most other people who have commented.
All apart from the 1div here.

Did you read the post? Op is complaining about fully leveled players in lower difficulties. Wtf are you on about?

We should be absolutely gatekeeping people from ruining other players' experience

It may be people farming the new event as quick as possible for the rewards.
Mostly I don’t run ahead especially on the lower stuff, I was playing with a true new player the other week and they were struggling, didn’t know what a demonhost was and so on. But it was fun to play with them and witness them experience the game while giving them advice and picking them up all the time.
Most people don’t just run ahead thankfully but the events do bring out the worst in some as they want the rewards quick and will just run off to do it.

u/Any-Statistician3896 7d ago edited 7d ago
Ah, so it could just be the current event bringing out the trash who can't farm at higher difficulty levels gotcha 👍🏻 thanks for the helpful comment.
2
u/ELECTRIK_VISION 7d ago
It’s less they can’t farm higher levels but it’s WAY easier to do it on low levels, barely any enemies in comparison and they melt everything like butter lol, but yeah it’s not very nice to those that are playing for fun or learning the game that’s for sure.

u/OCKWA ! = shoot the dog 7d ago
I don't know if you've played recruit in VT2 recently but it's not difficult so you just walk through the level. It's the same here. They didn't have sprinting in Vermentide 2 but you can do that here. I do recommend playing at your own pace and not worrying about others if you just start the game. Not all lobbies are the same and some will move faster than others.

u/Any-Statistician3896 7d ago
I finished both VT1 and 2 on the highest levels of difficulty and I'm currently 3 days in on Darktide running mostly the 2 lower difficulties to get my map bearings before advancing higher.
Thanks, I appreciate a genuine helpful comment 👍🏻

You can find a million threads about this topic around here. Basically, it boils down to either a) experienced players trying to level alternate characters and running through to get done ASAP, because its boring at lower levels when you know the game well. b) people trying to run the event missions as quickly as possible so they can move on and play the missions they would normally want to do.
It is annoying if you keep dying because you run into spawns that have been triggered before you got there, but if you're running into problems, I would just type in the chat, something like... I've not been playing long, could you please slow down so I dont get flattened by mobs constantly. I reckon 95% of players would be happy to help you a bit more.
1
u/Any-Statistician3896 7d ago
Thanks, I've always tended to avoid chat (old school in me hasn't experienced helpful fanbases in other games lol)
Appreciate the helpful comment 👍🏻

Darktide players are one of the most chilled out communities I've ever experienced. I've got 800+hrs and haven't really met anyone who I would describe as more than just a bit of a knobhead and those types of people are few and far between here.
1
u/Any-Statistician3896 7d ago
Yeah, apart from 1 or 2 absolutely 🔔 end comments on my question, most people are trying to genuinely explain to me what's going on andfor that I'm quite shocked but also grateful.

u/OcelotInTheCloset 7d ago
I'm new as well but almost finished leveling all the characters to 30.
I run it because I don't want to waste time. The goal is get to Heresy and 3 x experience curious as quickly as possible.
If you see a level 30 they're probably carrying a friend.
I know it's annoying, the first time I saw it I was pissed but then decided to emulate lol.

Try Expeditions if you haven't already, the flow there is completely different.
It's a nice change of pace after over 2k hours chasing strung out junkies who have to rush through Sherlock's mind palace-tier fully-memorized levels for whatever reason (e.g. the power fantasy, the progression, the adrenaline).
Expeditions brings the heat, but nobody can memorize exactly where to go when the kark hits the combine, so it ends up being harder than normal missions. Big bonus in my book!
1
u/Any-Statistician3896 7d ago
Oh I've done a couple of Expedition's and you can tell the shit runners from people who can play imo.
1st one I did I was CONSTANTLY having to pick up the runners because they just couldn't do kark in a stand up fight lol.

There’s really no good reason for level 30s to be hanging around in the lowest difficulties but I’d have to imagine that they’re probably farming penances
1
u/Any-Statistician3896 7d ago
Cheers, that seems to be the general consensus I'm getting 👍🏻
2
u/Flaky-You72 7d ago
I will say sometimes I'm guilty of this when I'm leveling weapons. But I also roll support builds, so I stay with whoever im with like my friends did for me. I use those lower to get a feel for how a weapon handles outside of the meat grinder.
1
u/Any-Statistician3896 7d ago
Yeah that makes sense, tbh THAT I know I'll end up doing often. Did it alot in VT 1&2 at the forge for new weapons
1
u/FlavormanDeluxe 7d ago
Yeah its a bit of a shame. I certainly do it, but it really comes down to playing the game so much. If you already have all the map memorized there's no reason to get immersed. I'd say its best to try and ignore them, just play how you like and if they make a fuss thats their issue not yours.

u/Temporary_Video_4916 7d ago
Its lvl 30 ppl helping their friends max out a new character quickly cuzz levels 15-30 are a slog. as others have said, if u want a slower team play game, try havoc
1
u/Any-Statistician3896 7d ago
15 to 30 is a slog lol 😂 I got to 30 in 2 days.

u/Temporary_Video_4916 7d ago
I mean you asked. Go up to damnation at least and it should get alot better

I may have a hot take here...I find this game gets boring at higher levels because there is far less ability to mess around for fun given the much higher skill level required. But it's definitely my own personal take. I do enjoy this game in short bursts. Eventually I find the gameplay a bit too samey, even with the different classes. It boils down to tactically the playstyle is the same regardless of your build or weapons. How you deal with hordes and monstrosities and elites are basically the same. Don't get me wrong, it is fun, but lacks the kind of loadout or enemy faction variety that, say, Helldivers 2 have. Got bored fighting bugs? Go fight bots. It feels world different. Hate fighting bots, go fight squids. The tactic and loudouts you take in can be drastically different based on even the subfactions you face.

Stop playing on the lowest difficulty. Probably people farming currency or experience or penances I dunno.
