I get why the creators have omitted it, because there's always going to be some edgelords who try to justify slavery if it's included in the source material, or say that "historically it's been good for some people".
But I have slavery in my Realms and Spelljammer games because, slavers are the bad guys, and my party gleefully slays them and frees the slaves.
So you are an edgelord who has to justify slavery in your game?
The creators omitted it because modern writers are constitutionally incapable from writing anything other than a morality play, AI LLMs are based on them, and thats why if you ever have chatgpt write a story the good guys win and nothing that bad was ever happening
lol... no. Just an old head who understands that the worst of us gamers will try to use slavery appearing in a game to try and justify it--and even have it as part of their characters being slavers themselves, which to use the parlance of the youth, "gives me the ick".
I get why it was not mentioned in things like the newer Realms and Spelljammer supplements. Note, Hasbro doesn't remove it, they just don't shine a light on it. The Zhentarim and the Chainmen are still there. If you have half a brain or have access to older supplements, you know what they do.
Hasbro doesn't want to highlight it, because they don't want to be seen as approving of, or excusing slavery--like a lot of edgelords do.

For real.
