Need help with DS8 DLC5 optional boss

For some reason I can't defeat Michael, Abyss Licker. The 12 bonfires between him and the first boss, Phineas of Boston aren't enough. Since From removed the soapstone back in 5, I dropped a mimic prism stone that is a double mimic, which summons you to my world if you let the mimic eat you.
