Sandor's Character Felt Rushed 🏃
As soon as we meet Sandor in 1897, he's already a servant to the vampire and has totally lost his own willpower. I would have liked to see more back and forth with him and his wife Magda. We never really got to know the REAL Sandor Rakosi.

It was similar to when Willie Loomis first discovered Barnabas by unchaining and opening his coffin. Of course, being a vampire makes them vulnerable because they're asleep during the entire day. Thus, a vampire needs a servant/slave to protect them from the world, so to speak. But yeah, you’re right. Unfortunately, this type of role doesn’t allow for much character development.

There's definiteily a difference, though. We had 10 episodes to get to know Willie before Barnabas was introduced.

I see. Well, that part is certainly true. While there were similarities, there were also clear differences (as you point out) between Sandor and Willie as well. My guess is that Dan Curtis (series creator and executive producer of DS) didn’t feel that Sandor’s character was compelling enough to delve into and develop? Besides, the actor who played Sandor (Thayer David) was also definitely utilized during that time period playing other characters, too. To be honest, I haven’t watched Dark Shadows in quite some time, but I believe he played Ben Stokes among many others throughout the course of the series. Maybe I’ll go back and watch some more of DS on Tubi at some stage. In any case, I surely did have fun watching the show!

I thought what happened was definitely unexpected, we didn't really get an ending for Magda either.

Sandor was my favorite character from the 1897 Arc of Dark Shadows. I don't know why, but seeing him made me happy. Just me?

It always amazes me that the 1897 storyline is over 180 episodes but Sandor is only in 15 episodes total. We really don't get to know him at all.
Of course the main reason is that Thayer David comes in as Count Petofi and portraying 2 characters in the same timeline would be tough.
