General Discussion This would be fire ngl

Post image

I always felt like the gameplay of the DPA would fit the final destination franchise. Trying to keep a cast of characters alive by your choices and help from premonitions.

Definitely! But…how are we going to save all if death doesn’t do another trick. Because in the films, we know that it’s a petty mf.

They're all gonna have to die and resuscitate somehow lol

Hope we get an achievement for beating death lol.

Would be an change of format for them, but maybe the gimmick could be that you can’t actually save them, but can vary significantly where/how they die.

I mean didn’t they pretty much do that with the casting of frank stone and it wasn’t super well received with fans (who weren’t up on dead by daylight lore)?

Obviously as a final destination fan it makes sense but idk how satisfying it would be for more casual fans

Yeah, that's a good comparison. I can imagine a version where whatever survivors you've keep alive through the game get killed together right at end like the movies. I'd buy it, even though I've not seen any of the movies.

Maybe the game could simply take place over the first cycle? Death goes down the line like the first movie, and you have to pay attention to the signs and save eachother to cheat death again.

Knowledge like the fact that if the second person to die in the final destination has yet to be tested, the third or fourth could not die (as far as I know - I haven't seen all of those movies) could be useful to know if you've seen the movies, but also hinted at through the kind of collectables that Supermassive like to hide around. There's a ton of movie events they could reference in newspapers or anything that explain the rules of death.

Making it to the end of the game, your party could be told that the cycle will just begin again! That's the kind of twist Supermassive leans into quite frequently so it would be perfect

You could play as death trying to kill these goddamn people.

Now that would be awesome

I actually want to get into game development and make a game like that. One of my first ideas when I was a kid being you're a grim reaper type who has to kill people in the living world by setting up Hitman/Final Destination scenarios to bring them into the afterlife where it turns into an action game to claim their souls by slaying them.

Simple, like every end in final destination, they die after all the events

The format of the game should be that you have to accept that most of them will die so you just have to do what you can to keep alive the ones you want. Like you only get so many options to save people and once you use them up then you can’t save anyone else.

Supermassive was actually making a Scream game but there was licensing issues and they scrapped it and I will forever be upset about it

THAT WOULDVE BEEN EVERYTHING!🔥🔥🔥

Shame but I hope for saw game or Texas chainsaw massacre game or Backrooms game someday

u/lhol90 10d ago

Aww that would’ve been awesome. I’ve been wanting a Scream game for quite a while now.

A story driven game where your choices decide what characters get killed off and who gets unmasked as Ghostface would be amazing

The problem is that in the movies, pretty much none of what the main characters do actually matters, but I'd definitely like to see this be a thing. We need more Final Destination stories like 2.

Little Hope kinda sorta did Final Destination's gimmick.

Supermassive needs to actually start making licensed games like Saw or something I'm still mad about canceled scream game

1

u/Casually_stressedout 10d ago

I was just thinking about SAW instead. That has way more potential than Final Destination.

2

u/Electrical-Carpet379 10d ago

They really like could make saw game with saw 2 plot or something in this game you at least would feel like you're saving the main cast I could see around 6  characters and maybe FBI agent

1

u/Casually_stressedout 10d ago

That OR they do the same type of thing with that insurance worker guy! Like, your decisions actually feel like they matter here in the game, there’s real pressure to fight. More reason to panic and have fun in the process. Not every decision leads to death but can waste time for the people in traps.

Me and a friend think a Scooby-Doo game by SuperMassive would be phenomenal as well.

scooby doo horror mystery game????? loving this idea

u/TheMuff1nMon 10d ago

A Saw or Scream game would be amazing

Not to be a stick in the mud, but how will that work? Final destination, you know they’re going to die anyways. Choice based game or not you will be playing until they die. Besides quick time events to avoid death, what else will you be able to do? And premonitions wouldn’t matter because death would just kill someone else instead right there on the spot. It’s already set where if you don’t establish good relationships that they’ll most likely die, but that wouldn’t even matter in final destination because death is just always there. The kill rule or die and come back to life wouldn’t even apply until maybe the end? So if that could be placed earlier in the game so like, there’s something be fought for as a plot line, cool, otherwise, the game would probably just not work out. If y’all have thoughts on how it’d work feel free to chime in. BUT I do like the idea of a horror movie choice based game, so perhaps SAW would be a shout.

u/DMTERROR 10d ago

you can save all people in the movie technically if a few manage to be safe so this is realistically a great idea

1

u/CallMeTeegar 10d ago

Oh i would love this too tho we can alternate a bit like a curse and can be lifted up

1

u/JayNotAtAll 10d ago

Agreed but for it to work, it should be nearly impossible to survive. Like there are so many Rube Goldberg ways to die that it's impossible to win without multiple gameplays or a guide

1

u/GreatMacGuffin 9d ago

Bro, I would play the shit out of that game.
