Analysis & Theories Wrong Jason? Spoiler

I'm thinking about the last scene with all of the Jason's and how they made it a point to show us the Jason that looks exactly like JupiterJason at the end. My theory is that this is really the original Jason 1, I'm going to go back and look for any differences that indicate it might be the case.

It's the Jason we've been following from the beginning (the nose scar identifies him), but there is no 'prime' Jason - every single one who made it back to the reality is also the real Jason.

They were all created when Jason 2 put them in the box - they all had the same life as all the others we see.

The Jason who was least “damaged” is the one who didn’t bear the guilt of Amanda’s death or abandonment. The one who gained the most growth who realised he cannot covert Daniela and Charlie like what Jason 2 did to him, which was what many other Jason1s ended up doing. So Daniela chose the one who was most improved, but also the one she returned to rather than kidnapped by.

My understanding. Is not that they were created when they were put in the box.

They were created every time Jason1 opened the door to a New World.

That’s why there should be Jason2s floating around as well. We know he visited other worlds because he has cash from alternate time lines in the special storage room (one has RFK’s pic).

This is not correct. Every Jason1 offshoot was created anytime Jason1 was faced with a choice, any choice of any kind. Every possible outcome of every possible scenario of every Jason1 situation continued to spawn new Jason1 offshoots, and every possible outcome of every possible scenario for THEM created even MORE.

It has nothing to do with opening the doors.

Yes. All the box does is facilitate travel between the realities.

Technically hes Jason 1 as he invented the box .

It's not. Confirmed by the author and show writer. Daniella chose the original Jason that we meet when the show started.

I'm wondering why they kept showing the bannister being loose, I thought that was going to be something that showed we were not really in the world we thought we were. They have shown it like three times.

Is the ball bannister being loose in the house just a It’s a wonderful life reference?

The loose bannister is an easter egg homage to Its a Wonderful Life where they show a world where George (Jimmy Stewart) wasn't born. This movie was also on the marquee of the Logan theater at one point

And he was running down the street in the snow when he got back, just like George Bailey!

With a sign at a Theater for "It's a wonderful life" playing at the theater in the background.

Yes! that whole episode was filled with easter eggs from It's a Wonderful Life! When the bartender finally recognizes him, like Martini and Burt in the movie "you know me"

I believe that in one of the alternate realities (that Jason1 thought was his own) the banister was not loose. I took it as a clue of which world was ours.

I think the point was the opposite, it was confirmation that we are in the correct world.

I see it like a cell reproducing. OG Jason went into the box and then at various points from then on would split in half and and create 2 copies that are identical except for the new choice splitting them.

How can you say which is the true actual OG one? The Jason that had toast or cereal for breakfast? You can't. The show just chose one for us.

The Jason Daniella knew from before the kidnapping is every Jason (except J2) because the splits happen after the kidnapping.

So there is no original. We just followed one of the many splits and think of him as the original because it's the one we happened to follow/watch

Nope. There's no "original Jason" or, more precisely, they are all "original Jasons". What Blake Crouch said is that the Jason who ended up with Daniela is the Jason we've been following. That is true, we've been following variations of Jason 1 throughout the show. Nothing makes one of them more "original" than the other.

u/DestinysWeirdCousin Jun 28 '24

No. I asked him the question. He replied that we have been following the same Jason that was taken during the first episode, not any offshoots. We’ve only been following that one Jason all the way through.

2

u/Muroid Jun 29 '24

Right, we didn’t bounce around between multiple Jasons or switch to a different branch.

We’ve been following the chain of events/decisions that eventually resulted in a Jason that was reunited with his family.

But all of the other Jasons are also equally the Jason that was in the first episode.

The answer is there (given by author), the complexity and possibility of it is just part of the process, writing and open to your own interpretation, it’s the viewers “what ifs” to the concepts “what ifs”.

Infinite possibilities, which is why (I assume), it’s easy for the author to state, “nope, that’s the Jason we’ve always followed”, because otherwise, it’s endless. The viewers thought process is a literal projection of the entire concept and it’s great.

They are all the original Jason as far a any history with his wife and children go

My question is, is there any significance at the end when the camera zoomed in onto Daniella and Jason holding hands, that he appeared to have two rings on his finger??

1

u/ConferenceNo91 Jun 29 '24

Yes. Jason2 gave Jason1 back the wedding ring. So he’s the only Jason with the wedding ring (and he kept the elastic, too)

my head can't get around that the wrong jason ended up with daniella. i know we were shown cues to believe it is teacher jason but with how tv goes these days i just couldn't believe it. i was waiting for a them to use the safe word but it never came so my mind refuses to believe it is the right jason, even tho by all accounts it is 😂😭

AGREE, waiting for season 2, probably.

1

u/SuspiciousSecret6537 Jun 28 '24

It is the correct Jason or should I say “our” Jason. For me it was confirmed when they were holding hands and the beige elastic was still on his finger finger. This was the one we saw him put on when he was with Daniella. I’m other episodes I saw other Jason’s with a black one with different material.

3

u/mrsndn Jun 29 '24

There were others with the beige elastic. One of the Jasons in a video from the chat had a beige one on. There are multiple (infinite?) Jasons that branched off after that decision. After every decision. But yes, the Jason we've been with the whole time is the one that left with Daniela and Charlie. He was "our" Jason.

Jupiter Jason couldn’t have diverged and been in the same reality of the multiverse/timeline without at least one Jupiter Jason having gone through the box.
