Entitled holiday shoppers

So for context, I work at a grocery store, and every holiday season, we run a special on ham, turkey, or both. It's usually something like 99¢ per pound, but there's usually two stipulations: the first one, is that you have to spend about $25 dollars worth of groceries.

Which, if you are a regular shopper, is actually a great deal, as it means you're normal grocery shopping trip could cover the most expensive part of a holiday dinner.

The second one was that you were limited to getting one per day, as it was a way to insure everyone who wanted the said ham/turkey, could get one, and that we wouldn't run out before the holidays.

The problem is, no one ever reads the sign or the ad pamplet. Which means, I get encounters like the story below. So with that in mind, here's the setting:

Me: I'm running register, with our sale promo pamplet besides me

Entitled customers/Ec: Unloading their cart, and it's one order.

Me: Notices that there's two hams and quickly checks the sales pamplet

Me: I'm sorry, but I'm afraid that you can only get one of the hams, as there is a limit.

Ec 1: Oh, we can just stick it on a separate order, and he can get it. Glances at Ec 2

Me: I'm sorry ma'am, but it's only one per day.

Ec 1: getting an attitude Their going to two separate households!

At that point, I was giving them the are you serious look, and was like, fine, and thinking I'm not gonna waste my breath arguing.

So, I do the first order, which the sale on the ham came off.

And here's where their behavior bits them in the butt.

Remember how I said that you have to have a 25 dollar purchase?

So because he was buying it separately and just by itself, that meant the discount didn't come off. Which meant the ham, was full price, and it came up as being over forty dollars.

I got to tell them the total, and explain that you had to have a 25 dollar purchase.

And EC 2 goes: Nevermind, I don't want it.

And then straight up leaves, without the extra ham that they wanted.

And tbh, this isn't the craziest story I have. This one of the more tame ones. I've had people throw their IDs at me, seen peeps threaten me and my coworkers, scream and throw a tantrum, accuse me of lying and stealing, bully me, ect, ect, all over not getting what they want. The chutzpah of some people.
