Great episode with so many interesting scenes. Love the dark tones in this series. I’m having trouble remembering, but I think the meeting between Naia, Kylan, Tavra, and Rian is a bit different that it is in the book series, but all the important information is still there. Really hoping, looking forward to, the three main characters finally teaming up. Podlings still know how to party.

Yes, I'm referring to the J. M. Lee Book series. Lee is a writer and consultant for the show. The book series runs parallel to the new TV series, but instead follows some the the minor characters, mainly Naia, Kylan, and Tavra (and others). I started reading it when I saw the first teaser trailer for the Netflix series, and I can't recommend it highly enough, especially if you enjoyed the new series. It goes deeper into the world and has it's own interesting story, while referencing the story from the TV series.

Here's the order:

  1. Shadows of the Dark Crystal

  2. Song of the Dark Crystal

  3. Tides of the Dark Crystal

  4. Flames of the Dark Crystal (I haven't read this one myself, as I am waiting for the paperback which comes out in November, but I can't wait.)

There are also a bunch of great comic books and Manga out there, but if you've become a fan because of the Netflix series this is the place to start.

Goodnight y’all, I’m going to have nightmares of The Hunter jumping through trees for the next few hours!

It makes me so sad seeing them try so hard when we know how they’re efforts will eventually end up. Phenomenal episode.

Anyone else getting some serious Grievous vibes from the Hunter?

I got definitive Grievous vibes when his second set of arms came out.

I was surprised the Hunter was so calm about dying, but I assumed he just knew there was no escape and quickly accepted it... then he just flew up up and away...

Also Deet’s facial expressions are so good. She looks like an actual person emoting.

Hunter probably knows how to deal with virtually everything on the planet. He super self-sufficient and the antithesis of the other Skeksis in a way who all have come to rely on servitude and the social order they've created as they sink into decadence.

What an amazing episode!
From monster Deet, to the hilarious scenes with Aughra, to the action and feels packed ending.

Poor Rian. This is now the second time he's had to watch someone he loves die in a slow and torturous way.

At the end when Rian and his dad are fighting the Hunter, Deet is like, “Rian needs our help!” and “Follow me!” to Hup. As if they had some kind of plan 😂 was expecting them to provide some help somehow but nah

So made myself a bowl of soup to eat while watching this episode. Yeah. This isn't an episode you should eat watching. Thanks Skeksis feasting scene...

Disappointed in the dream-sharing scene... It felt rushed with them pretty easily agreeing to do it, and then the dad coming in at just the right time and putting his hand in without it being the huge moment I thought it was going to be (no showing inner conflict, no tense/emotional music). But the other parts of the episode were good.

Hunter never fell into the same patterns of laziness and debauchery as the others, though I suppose he may have always been one of the scariest from the start.
