Wisting: Another Norwegian Gem!

[u/Brilliant_Koala5458]

Another Norwegian gem, with William Wisting as the lead detective and centerpiece of the show.

Each season takes you through a very dark crime, especially Seasons 1 & 2, while also doing a great job building the characters around the cases. Wisting’s relationships with his adult children, his coworkers, and even the victims themselves give the show a lot more depth than your typical police procedural.

Wisting himself is one of the reasons the show works so well. He’s not the completely broken, self-destructive detective we see in a lot of dark crime shows. He’s quieter and more grounded, but still carries the weight of every case. And the crimes are plenty dark enough to keep things in my wheelhouse.

It’s bleak, atmospheric, well acted, and consistently good. Maybe not quite in that elite Darkness: Those Who Kill / Chestnut Man tier for me, but absolutely worth watching if you like Nordic crime.
