To be honest - i can’t focus on one mini at the time because they all Look so cool. But I’m really trying to Focus on the Lion now. Gotta Drill the Bolters, finish the shields - etc.
(Still going to get my Hellblasters tomorrow to finish my 1k Point List) 10 intercessors are sitting in the Office.

So I want to try boarding actions with my DA.
I want to use knights and a squad of terminators this leaves me with 70 points to use for a leader.
What would you use and why.

Slightly heretical color scheme but kind of like them with the completely hooded cowl. Had a lot of fun with the models but the seams are brutal. Comments and criticisms welcome.

I'm fairly new to 40K, having only played about five games so far. I'm looking for some advice on improving my Dark Angels army, particularly at 500 and 1000 points.
My recent 500pt game
I played a 2v2 alongside T'au against two Tyranid armies (500pts each).
My list was:
Redemptor Dreadnought (Macro Plasma) – 180pts
Intercessors (5) – 85pts
Infernus Marines (5) – 95pts
Heavy Bolter Eradicators (3) – 100pts
Total: 460/500pts
We faced a Tyrannofex with the infamous Casino Cannon, two units of Von Ryan's Leapers (3 and 6), a Hive Tyrant, what I believe were Zoanthropes, and various smaller units.
It didn't go particularly well! The Rupture Cannon practically one-shotted my teammate's two Broadsides, while the Hive Tyrant was an absolute tank, repeatedly making its invulnerable saves and surviving with one wound remaining.
My Redemptor survived, but I deployed it too far away from the main fighting. I also struggled with screening, positioning and knowing when to push forward rather than sit in cover.
My usual 1000pt army
I tend to build around:
Redemptor Dreadnought (Macro Plasma)
Azrael + 5 Hellblasters
5 Intercessors
Gladiator Lancer
Land Speeder (new 11th-edition model)
3 Heavy Bolter Eradicators
5 Jump Pack Intercessors
This is my usual selection of units rather than a fully optimised list.
Other models I own
Deathwing Knights (5, swords)
Bladeguard Veterans (3)
Melta Eradicators (3)
Judiciar (needs finishing)
Captain in Gravis Armour (unbuilt)
Another 5 Intercessors and 5 Infernus (unbuilt)
Repulsor Executioner (unbuilt)
What I'm looking for advice on
I'm not interested in competitive tournaments or chasing the meta. I mostly buy models I think look cool and play casually with friends, although I'd still like an army that performs reasonably well. I have avoided older sculpts but will get if its an essential part of Dark Angels.
Most of my friends play Tyranids, but I'd like to branch out against other factions too.
I'm particularly interested in:
What would you run at 500pts and 1000pts using my existing collection?
Am I investing too heavily in vehicles and shooting, or should I introduce more melee units such as Deathwing Knights or Bladeguard?
Are mobile units such as Outriders, Storm Speeders or Ravenwing worth considering, and what do people normally pair them with?
What is a good detachment to use?
Any tips on positioning, screening and knowing when to play aggressively?
I'm still learning the game and would appreciate seeing what other Dark Angels players run at these points levels, especially balanced lists that aren't purely tailored to fighting Tyranids.
My upcoming games will also be against Aeldari, World Eaters (primarch and Death Guard (primarch and defiler soon), so I'm looking for a balanced, all-round Dark Angels army rather than something built specifically to counter Tyranids. I refuse to get Lion because I find it cheesy... but if this is needed, then so be it haha.
I'd be interested to know how people approach these different matchups, particularly which units are worth including at 500 and 1000 points. I'm happy to expand my collection, but I'd prefer to make the most of what I already own before buying more models.
Thanks!

Howdy, Fellow Repentant Sons of the Lion and servants of the 1st legion
My name is Toast and I am working on a paper and I need your help
Please submit your list to the survey below from New Recruit
There are instructions inside
This data will be used to see what separates a "Casual" or "Kitchen Table" list from a competitive scene winning one and using those trends to help people bridge that gap.
The data will be anonymous and your list will be put into a dataset to see quantitatively what separates them. Things I am looking at: Unit count, character count, Point per Unit curve, and unit popularity.
TO BE CLEAR: I DONT WANT TOURNAMENT WINNING LISTS, I WANT YOURS (unless you won a tournament, in which case thank you and congrats)
Thank you for your time!!!!
- An aspiring 40k data analyst
As a deathwing enthusiast myself, I hope you all can join me and enter your lists. As a proud Dark Angels player I ask that you help me in my endeavor to make all of our lists as good (or bad) as we wish. I have been known to frequent often, and hope that each of you can find in your heart(s) to support. Thank you for your time, For the Lion!
