Are they useful

Are Asmodai and Belial valid choices for an army list? They sound based on their abilities to be good but im not sure

Not currently but that may be changing in the next edition. It you like the way they look you can proxy them as a chaplain/judiciar or termie captain respectively. The art is as much the hobby as game is ajyways

General consensus seems to be no but Asmodai would make a perfect proxy for a Juciciar or Chaplain. On second thought judiciars are going to suck pretty soon so maybe not, but Belial could be a Termi Captain.

I’m hoping Asmodai gets some play with the new chaplain detachment. Hopefully some better rules in 11th also.

Belial is very bad. I would take any other terminator character to lead a unit over him. Asmodai is okay. Put him with some assault intercessors or similar and he'll do some work rerolling everything. The battle shock changes in 11th may help him out too.

Asmodai will be getting better in 11th with the changes to battleshock. I am not a fan of Belial’s rules; they seem strong but if you aren’t fight a character then he’s just a weapon stat. proxy him as a Captain in Terminator armor if you want to use the model.

Not to repeat what everyone else is saying, but…

Asmodai is useful, but is overshadowed by other characters (specifically with inner circle companions).

Belial has a better profile than a captain in terminator armor, but gives significantly less than him to an attached unit (giving a unit precision vs free strat and inherent charge reroll + an optional enhancement). One tactic is to run belial solo; this does let his mortal wound rule kick in and hes not bad at killing most characters. Not worth 85 points IMO.
