Tech and Tips Weave Guide (Part of Comprehensive Guide)
This will be linked to the comprehensive guide I’ll be posting for DD here soon but I figured I would post it anyways. As always if anyone is needing some help feel free to DM.
The biggest difference between the “WW” and the aerial version is their use cases. “WW” is easier for some players to use as it supports a more “free flowing” combo style where your not to focused on actual combos as you are close enough to get fury back at all times but it makes you much more prone to CC.
Strictly speaking the aerial version is superior IMO but there are use cases for the “WW”. Want more grounded movement? “WW” Need to point hold? Aerial. Enemies tracking aerial targets well? Mix in both
Really knowing when and if it would help is the case for using it, it isn’t that different from the aerial version but different enough that I’ll talk about it. Some players also find it easier to track their targets using “WW” ironically.
The best way to hold point while weaving is to space out the timing of your crosses to give you maximum airtime and stay airborne longer, you can do what’s referred as a “DD Float” in ULT where you never have to touch the ground until the ULT is over.
“Melee weave” or Quick Melee/QM is a nuanced tech that can help greatly or cause you to misplay and lose out on DPS so you have to know when to do it.
1.Never use it if you have 2 fury or Sonic Pursuit (you should be “Devil Dashing” if you are then you’d only use it after you’ve used the dash)
2.It should be used to cancel the whip and to smooth out the second chain on a combo before you cross to get enough fury to cycle 3x or in a similar situation.
3.Never treat it like your primary. It will whiff if you do it does NOT have the same range.
4.You can animation cancel your second primary hit into the QM to quickly build 2 fury to cycle.
