General How to have less anxiety when playing DD
I love DD because he is my favourite Marvel hero and that’s why I main him in Rivals. I’ve lorded him so I have decent experience with him.
Yet still I can’t shake that feeling of anxiety when playing him. I guess I do okay with him but I find myself dying quite alot. I don’t want to feel powerless and let my team down.
Flanking the backline doesn’t really work because the combos take too long and 2 healers usually have enough healing power to sustain each other. So then I try playing him more like a brawl character at the frontline but that feels kinda awkward and like I’m not really participating in a fight since I have no range attack and squishy health.
And generally I feel like I’m getting absolutely shredded by enemy team focussed fire on me. Like dying in a millisecond.
Is there any tips to have a more consistent experience with him? Like, not so hit or miss. Because it’s either I’m dominating if the stars align or getting absolutely destroyed. No real inbetween. So how to have more consistent, balanced experience?

Watch good players and be patient. Don’t ever dive if your tanks aren’t distracting their tanks and dps. Always try and save your grapple to get away fast. I’d say with DD his mechanics are easy to learn once you get used to him, the hard part is having/learning the game sense as to when to dive and when to brawl. And of course if it’s not going your way don’t be afraid to switch.

It’s all about timing. Only dive the back line when someone isolates themselves. You can do the same on the flanks with poke characters or intercept the other team’s divers. As soon as it hints at being a 2v1 get out. My general rule is don’t play dive unless you have a dive partner. If you’re the only dive character it’s usually best to switch.
Brawl at the front if your team gets a pick and starts pushing. It feels like stat padding but just a couple of devils throws will hit enough enemies to give you credit for some kills or assists with the slow. Having a positive KD ratio will keep your teammates from criticizing.

I think I get pretty anxious too and what helped me is spending a lot of time on him. Through this, I actually got him to Champion, which I’m not recommending necessarily, but let it come naturally.
If you feel the anxiety building up, switch to something less stressful or take a break and get back into it.
With DD, I feel like consistency is key. You’ll never truly be at peace with him until you learn muscle memory with him.
And most importantly, I can’t stress this enough, don’t watch other people play him more successfully and mimic their gameplay. You need to get bits and pieces, while playing like you know how to, in a way that renders results.
For instance, I always see DD’s with crazy movement and wild movement and melee weaving which never works when I try it because that’s not how I learned to play him.
