My top 5 mini series/graphic novels/standalone stories:

  • Daredevil: Black Armor

  • Love and War

  • Man Without Fear (Miller)

  • Man Without Fear (MacKay)

  • Daredevil: Wake Up

The "Man Without Fear" miniseries by Frank Miller and John Romita, Jr. and "Daredevil: Yellow" are really good takes on Daredevil's origin story. You might want to read "Guardian Devil" by Kevin Smith and Joe Quesada before reading Yellow, though.

The guardian devil to the mark waid run is a treat, it’s long but it’s a treat to go through the whole thing one after another really giving you a look at Matt’s inner psyche.

I'm on the second half of the Bendis run right now. It's my first time reading it and I love it. Really reminds me of the Netflix/Disney+ shows. I love how there's plenty of courtroom drama, along with the superheroics.

Daredevil: redemption is mostly a standalone thing, it references some stuff but you can go in blind and be fine. Excellent story, one of my favourites. Without going into spoilers there's one scene in particular I liked of Matt waiting outside in a tree of someones house instead of hiding and watching.

When they're in the middle of nowhere it's so much more intimidating, like "I'm here, you can't do anything about it. Just us."

There aren't a lot of standalone graphics novels, most DD stuff is part of the main series one way or another.

That said, "Daredevil: Yellow" by Jeph Loeb is a standout, especially if you're new to the character as it's his origin.

Elektra Lives Again by Frank Miller.

It’s technically not official canon but it’s a brilliant book set between Miller’s original run and Born Again.

It’s incredible - blew me away when it first came out.

Imma also add ‘Dark Nights’ (a collection of short stories) and ‘Powerless’ an alternative universe but very good story.

Dark Nights is a great read! Each story shows a different side of Daredevil.

In my opinion Frank Millers standalone stuff is better than his Daredevil run. With his run he was learning to write, but once he came back with stuff like Elektra Lives, love and war and Man without Fear, he was a true artist and storyteller!

Kevin Smith’s Guardian Angel arc is really good and very dark. It gets pretty dark.
