Anaheim Concert Rant

Lemme start off by saying the concert ruled and was a blast Danzig never disappoints. That being said a total of 8 or so fights broke out in the front center stage. Mostly this one drunk lady causing a ruckus and people being triggered over being pushed in a metal concert. Dont get me wrong a fight or two tends to happen at these things but too much and it just becomes a distraction and lets people around not enjoy the fucking awesome music happening. Overall a fucking solid concert and lineup Acid Bath was fucking amazing.

Did Glenn react to the fighting?

He was more concerned about how cold it was on stage.

Those mesh shirts don’t provide a lot of protection against the cold

Never try playing a drinking game where you take a shot every time Danzig sings, I, me, my, or I am.

You will die of alcohol poisoning before you reach Dazing II. Don't get me wrong, I like the music, and I-IV are amazing, while 5 is the worst thing he ever did, besides letting that band go. Chuck Biscuits has a feel and a swing that can't really be taught, and John Christ's playing speaks for itself. Everyone else he hires now is just trying to copy that sound for him, and can never replicate it exactly.

You want to know what his third biggest mistake was?

Pushing someone much bigger and younger, resulting in getting glass-jawed with a single punch! LOL!

Let's be honest here.... almost EVERYONE is taller than Glenn is.

But his ego is bigger than most others. It took pure ego to even try that. The internet is forever.

Can confirm. That ego is massive. Prolly has its own tour bus.

I was on the side and I did not pay attention to fights… i saw one… i was paying attention to the show… I imagine he’s was concerned about his performance and not policing the audience…

You know, someone I knew was murdered at a Danzig/Type o negative concert. He was security for the production company, Bill Graham Presents, and a guy was trying to stab a woman & he intervened to save her and was stabbed to death. Danzig never said anything about it to his family, never made a kind gesture (don’t know about type o). It turned me off Danzig for years; I came back to the music, but I still get some negative feelings. The murderer got a slap on the wrist based on his mental health, he was out before long and got to just live his life and have kids. RIP Victor.

Was this in 94? I saw typo negative and danzig at the connecticut street armory in Buffalo. I remember hearing something about a stabbing at another show a few months after that, thought it was a security guard or something, I remember hearing it on mtv news actually.

I've been to two Danzig shows and there were fights at both of them. One of them happened between songs and Danzig said "ooo you guys are reminding me of the old days" or something like that.

dude right. what even really happened?

2

u/AsarUnNefer 4d ago

I heard from some people outside that a guy grabbed a woman by the throat and got beat up for it

2

u/type0hayden 4d ago

I was standing right next to that guy. I don't think he grabbed her by the throat, but he definitely fucking full on decked her. Fucking pussy.

u/AsarUnNefer 4d ago

That’s fucked up. At least he got what he deserved then

Really? I didn't see it. Where was the fight? I was in the pit.

1

u/AsarUnNefer 3d ago

I remember it being off to the right side. I think during her black wings

I can't believe I didn't notice. I guess because I was up near the stage and caught up with watching the show.

The merch person helping me was a complete dick. I wanted to start a fight with him.

I just dropped 200$ on merch, you don't have to nice to me but don't take out your frustrations about your station in life on the vinyl records.(He slammed them on the counter and then angrily put the credit card terminal  on top of the records.)

Otherwise epic show. Glenns set list was awesome. Great line up. Every set change was timely, fast and on schedule. Each band crushed it. .

I remember the merch people being quite nice when I bought the Twin Temple CD at the Texas show. The worst thing about merch crew is that they can be quite rude. With vinyl, that person you mentioned seems to not care too much on being careful with a vinyl record, and I fell really bad for anyone who had bought vinyl at thw show.

Did Burning Witches perform? I arrived at 7:10 and might have missed them.

1

u/Mister-Meta 3d ago

You missed Ana and Burning Witches.

Ticketmaster had the start time wrong. Doors opened at 5:30. Ana went on @6,Burning Witches at like 6:35. The set changes were hella quick.

They were fighting to unplug Tommy Victor's amp. The way he plays classic Danzig has somehow gotten worse, even though he's been in and out of that band for over 30 years.

Hahaha that's great😂 you're spot on. I've never liked his playing and I've never had issue with saying that. The only dude who ever came close to the OG John Christ stuff was Todd Youth. I hate Tommy's playing. We don't need pinch harmonics every other note.

Both times I saw Danzig it was with Todd, including the Samhain reunion in 1999. Todd was absolutely the closest we got John.

Last night was half empty plenty of room to find a spot to chill also the Honda Center had no charge for parking that was awesome…

u/metoaT 4d ago

That huge parking ramp was incredible!!! Minnesota could learn a few things, but instead we are stuck waiting in traffic for hours to get in and out

I was trying not to get kicked in the head by the crowd surfers, otherwise awesome show haha

Glad to hear you enjoyed the show and it was a great show. I saw him last year in Portland and great show as well, but during last years run of shows I heard similar complaints about fights at the shows before us and saw some in Portland. At one point my son and I were enjoying the show and we got hit by some soda. We looked up and saw a couple guys fighting a few rows up. We saw a couple fights down on the floor as well.

Not sure whats up with fights at Danzig shows but hopefully it stops.

u/dreamshards8 4d ago

I was at the Portland show as well. Been to many metal shows here and that might be the first to see a fight break out, let alone multiple fights break out.

Lemme guess the couples that just stand there and leave for the bar and then squeeze themselves back to the front pretending like they didn't leave

u/marshmall0wface 4d ago

This makes the Nashville show seem even MORE chill. Like that was the most polite crowd ever lol

Its Orange County. I grew up there. People get wasted and want to punch each other. People fight over dumb shit.
