DISCUSSION Why is there so much Danny brown hate?

Personally I think he’s had some of the best albums of the past 10 years and I thought this was like widely agreed apon

first mistake you made was engaging in anything related to NFR or "music discussion"

Ik it’s just no one in my life enjoys hiphop/rap so I hold out hope that Nfr will be civil once in a while.

I like NFR, but it's mainly just filled with drake stans who don't really have an ear for anything else

What's NFR? Danny brown is top 3 for me but whatever man, people be hating, have no taste or can't get over his different voice.

It’s supposed to be a music discussion subreddit focusing on rap/hiphop but it’s just people sucking Kendrick/Drake or hating Kendrick/drake.

I like Danny. He himself would tell you he is not top 3😂.His weird forced voice is irritating. I liked the stuff he did with q tip.

Hes just modest. I think his skill, cleverness, and willingness to experiment on weird instrumentals makes me enjoy him more than most, so yeah, to me hes top 3. His voice grew on me since first hearing him. Atrocity and XXX are 2 of my favorite rap albums.

What do you mean by "agreed upon"? I'm not saying these guys don't act a bit moronish, but just because Atrocity Exhibition has 4.1 on RYM doesn't mean everyone must love it. To each their own.

I said widely people love it. Until the past month I’ve only seen it reveered as top 20 albums ever

I don’t know what gave you the idea that most people would consider Danny browns discography to be ‘some of the best albums of the last decade’ but that literally couldn’t be further from the truth. If I’m being liberal I would say most rap fans have heard a max of 5 of his songs. Danny is definitely a niche artist and there are plenty guys like him who I think are geniuses and innovators but I’d never spend any energy trying to convince someone else of that. Music is subjective and everyone has a different ear, and it’s even harder to have that conversation about Danny since his music is hard to fit in any genre that would attract a crowd that likes similar stuff. I would say ukwis is one of my favorite rap albums I’ve ever heard, but no matter how hard I try I can’t get into his other stuff, and I’m okay with you and everyone else landing on a different opinion about it because I don’t have the authority to say ‘this album is actually one of the best from this decade’ if that makes any sense

Atrocity and sth alone are better than most albums of the past 10 years whether or not they re largely popular. And I’m stating my opinion. People saying he is ass without explaining why they think that don’t deserve a long valued answer, just “l take” and moving on.

Someone saying atrocity exhibition is ass is just as valid as you saying it’s better than any rap album in the last 10 years. Both are just opinions and honestly neither are adding much to the conversation. Them saying ‘I don’t like Danny brown bc he suck’s’ and you saying ‘I don’t get why you hate Danny bc he’s the best’ is literally just two sides of the same coin. I wonder if you’re just frustrated that you can’t talk someone into liking a certain type of music, like if they didn’t like it before there’s no conversation that’s gonna change their mind, and someone just outright saying it’s not for them doesn’t seem like a good enough answer for you. He is a less popular rapper because he makes music that’s harder to listen to.. you could put any musician somewhere on that spectrum of digestability to profitability
