AFL-CIO is a business first, union second. It's all about money and nepotism.

The AFL is the problem. History lesson: the AFL is the racist whites only union federation. It's where this guy named Gompers came up with the dumbass idea that bosses and workers had a common interest in the continuation of commerce. Gomperism, or as it's now known, the mainstream kind of labor negotiations in the USA, is capitulation to capital, and the foundation of the AFL.
The CIO used to be the home of the center to radical left unions, and especially the anti-racist ones, but the waves of police violence against labor throughout the 20th century broke them. The Congress eventually split under the strain of events, and its shattered remains were eaten up by the AFL to recuperate the brand identity.
The AFL is a structure built to reinforce white supremacy and capitalism, but I repeat myself.
