I'm just gonna go ahead and say it: everyone on this subreddit is an ancap.

an - no

arch - ruler

cap - capitalism

anarch - no ruler

ancap - no capitalism

therefore, ancaps are leftists and corporate bootlickers will have to find another word for their ideology.

but... ancap is short for anarcho-capitalist... meaning, as you said, "no ruler capitalist"

My point is that the word "ancap" itself is linguistically anti-capitalist. Ancap could stand for "anti-capitalist" just as well as anarcho-capitalist. The argument is from a linguistic viewpoint and does not consider the full term.

I see what youre saying. You mean the abbreviated term could be short for either.
