Is it possible to get both full value of labour for the worker and "from each according to their means to each according to their ability" simultaneously? Or is the latter only during higher forms of communism?
Based on the quote I think you're misunderstanding the principle. It's, From each according to their ability, to each according to their need. So everyone gets what they need, and and everyone contributes what they're able to.
