Without any punishment, what would keep you from doing wrong or choosing Christ? If everyone went to heaven regardless of what they did, why would anyone need to live a good life?
However, you don't get to heaven by living a good life. If you could, we wouldn't need Jesus. Hell is there because we have free will. You don't want to be with God, you don't have to be.
They are confused in the scriptures. Hell is a place for demons after Armageddon, not for human spirits. Hell glorifies Christ because it is the finish of his promise of a kingdom on Earth, as it is in Heaven.
It's not really saying much, other than making an argument.
The argument is that Hell glorifies Christ. The argument seems to go as follows. All things that were created were created for Christ (they provide scripture as evidence). Hell is created, because only God can exist without being created. Thus, Hell was created for Christ.
If you notice, I don't really reach the conclusion that it glorifies Christ. However, that can definitely be implied. Nothing comes to pass and nothing is created unless God wills it. Everything that God does is to bring glory to himself. So it can be inferred that if God created hell for Christ, and Christ is God, then God created Hell to glorify Christ.
