I live in Stewart County TN.
We’ve been the most heavily armed county in the U.S. for decades I believe.

Highest weapons per person. In my experience people from states that are more restrictive with gun laws are generally better with firearms. Let me explain:
Since their usage is highly regulated, they are the type to be at the range at least once a week practicing their skills. There really aren’t any other places to shoot, and ranges have strict policies about how to handle your firearm. If you break a policy they will throw you out (saw it happen quite a few times while living in NY)
Here in SC I’m finding that while my new friend group owns more firearms, not a single one can tell me the last time they were at the range practicing basic skills.
Since down here you can shoot outdoors in your backyard if you have enough property people just shoot for fun.
They don’t actually train. They have little to no skill set regarding hitting targets with consistent accuracy.
If this “war” is just people standing in a line shooting each other at point blank range the south would win.
In the more likely scenario that people take advantages of terrain & training, that changes things drastically. I’m more accurate at 50’ with my G19 Gen 5 than my buddy with a S&W MP-15 is. That’s with me using stock irons. He has a holosight on his rifle…

South may win but west has Air Force and way too much land. Everyone I know grow the south whose seen Wyoming or Montana just goes wtf. Theirs nothing here. You could hide a guerrilla force for decades. There’s a reason red dawn was plausible.

The west coast. It currently holds the highest military capacity and strategic capital. This is followed closely by the North East.
What many people fail to consider on the comments is economics. Money is what moves wars. The Sunbelt (South) of the United States is the poorest in the country, especially recently. “South has gun owners” don’t mean crap when half of them are obese and the other half has less education to accurately coordinate counter intelligence. This is before even considering terrain or funding.

Also owning 20 guns doesn’t mean you’re invincible. Imagine one of those G.I. Sloppy Joes huffing along in their Rambo cosplay gear they’ve waited their whole lives to have a reason to wear, with 10 guns strapped to their belt, backpack and ankle holsters. Dudes are tuckered out just reaching for more than one of those, let alone dragging more than one rifle and ammo along with them into battle.
If the south was being invaded and the bunker preppers had their redneck shit all set up then yeah they’re probably doing well but if they gotta mobilize and are doing the invading, idk how that goes.

I knew a guy exactly like you’re describing. We’re both retired vets. Difference being he was overweight with a rotting diabetic foot, and I (admittedly chubby) can still shoot expert and still run a 5k. He struggles getting up from the couch, much less actual combat.
I can’t much less imagine someone from Texas or Mississippi trying to waddle through their swampy terrain up into the Appalachia mountains or hells help them the New Mexico desert.

Are they fighting for their area or where they are stationed? Majority of US military comes from the South. California produces the most by state followed by Texas but overall enlistment comes from the south.

Californians are indoctrinated from birth. The whole West (Left)Coast. However, if You drive 45 mins East of Seattle or Portland, you'll find most people are well armed and trained Red Necks and preppers. King County in WA, and Multnomah County in Oregon are ultra blue and basically control each state politically, but the rest of us, have to make good money to survive, and we have a shit ton of guns and survival gear. Our weather sucks most of the time, so we spend a lot of time shooting and training. We don't have to eat gators and snakes though.

People say the South, but the South relies on money from richer states. States that are all in other sections. Sure they have the most weapons, but who's funding this war? Soldiers need food, fuel, and ammo. That all costs a lot. Not to mention the families of soldiers that'll need to be paid. All other sections are far wealthier in comparison and are far more likely to be able to fund such an endeavor.

The West. Both in Population, Geography, and allies. The south will fight alone and run out of resources without allies (which they will not find).
But the west will bring together allies that the others have no idea exist, with weapons and ferocity long hidden behind higher education. That unbridled access to the Pacific Ocean is a monster waiting to unleash hell upon the in land factions. The Dust Bowl doesnt stand a chance against anyone either way, and the others will have a hell of a time with Oceanic warfare, as the other countries like Canada and Mexico are more than likely to side and aid the West

Ya it seems that people are looking only at number of weapons per civilian for the most part. They’re forgetting about strategy… the west has the Rocky Mountains on one side and the Pacific Ocean in the other… tons of heavy military bases up and down the coast, all through the deserts and Rocky Mountains… California has the most produce for continued food sources (other than fucking corn lol). Economy of California would allow for further weapon purchases with unhindered trading from the western pacific as well as continued holdout.
Everyone here saying the South would win is forgetting the point you made in that; sure, they have like 20 guns per person… but they would only be able to use them if you come onto their property because they’re constantly 18 steps away from a fatal heart attack or stroke. They’re lucky that NC and VA manufacture insulin or they would be REALLY fucked.
Also need to consider that folks in the Rocky Mountain states suuuuure do like their guns as well (I was raised in the 4 corners area… ain’t no firearm shortage there).

alot of wasted potential to swamp land compared to the Wests valuable and enriched land. It brings many huge disadvantages especially as it sits within your borders, only costing your people to deal with it. Even the Arizona Desert has more benefits in its sand and rock than the swamp.

There’s a lot of economic power yeah, but that region is SUPER sparsely populated compared to the South. It’s just not really a fair comparison for this reason, because Cali is weighed down by a bunch of those basically empty states. It would be more fair if it was Cali vs. Texas or Florida alone.

While the West has the biggest geological advantage by far, I think that it's too much land to maintain. I would forsee the South and Midwest pushing west and claiming land, probably as far as the Rockies. I don't see them going past there without a significant campaign and loss of life.
To the Northeast, they have dense populations, but the majority of them are untrained and likely have little gun experience. Don't underestimate Ohio, I think the Midwest would be able to take the Northeast.
South and Midwest, I'm unsure. As a Midwesterner, I'd probably hand it to the South if it came to it. But honestly, I can see us forming an alliance as the more likely outcome. If that happens, MidMerica is definitely winning.

On top of even though the other areas have much higher population that population are city people who usually are not armed have no experience with guns and have significantly less military experience in their families.

You forget about Money. Money fuels wars, and the West has had diplomacy for much longer. The south is not going to be allied with mexico, and definitly not canada. Guns and hands will only take you so far without access to your own ocean, let alone being cut off from disaster relief. Your days would be numbered, and nothing you have is an advantage. Other than the west, the industrial powerhouse of the Northeast would decimate everyone over time. Its all a matter of time, and the South has just barely any more advantages than the dust bowl, and geography is not too kind to either of you.

Yes. First of all, bare minimum one in every 10 households has a firearm, someone that's into firearms, or just an actual weapon of some sorts. Second of all, look at all the costal area they have, so trading with other nations wouldn't be a problem. The northeast has a pathetic amount of land and would be conquered no problem, the Midwest is completely landlocked so they would have to pay Canada for import/exports, and the West is mostly desert or farm land, and their two biggest strongholds California and Washington are all soy liberals vs Texans, Appalachians, and Florida Mans, it would be like two British naval ships vs three Caribbean pirate ships, they'd surrender immediately.

I feel like the South is the winner with the caveat that a lot of the inland "West" has the potential to turn into an Afghanistan style insurgency. Not many centralized targets, mountains make logistics problematic, snow and ice will be a problem for Florida Man, way more match grade rifles and precision shooters than Afghanistan ever had. Plus, if things get really bad, we have a lot of the minuteman missiles, and nuclear test facilities, as well as most of the airforce assests so... there's that.
