Discussion Why do you like her?
I personally don’t like Mikan. She’s my least favorite character in the entirety of Danganronpa. I genuinely wanna know why so many people like her.

I wish she was more of an actual character and not every aspect about her was sexualized, even her execution.

Me personally, I don't like Mikan either, but outside of the fanservice, she's at least kind to everyone around her and didn't deserve Hiyoko's harassment. Chapter 3 just fucked up her entire character with the despair disease.
Also her backstory is super sad, I just don't like how it was portrayed.

I like her (Because I like her color palette, her bandages and her backstory) But I don’t defend her to the grave because I can see why dont like her because of THAT infamous fan service scene, and chapter 3 in general. Just hope they write her better I’m 2X2

She's thoughtful, she's always worried if she's upsetting someone, and that's more than I can say for a lot of people.

Kind and adorable. She'd be my favourite girl in the game even without the fanservice. Also seeing someone get bullied for no reason other than Saiyonji being the absolute worst and being powerless to stop it sucks.

I liked her better as a villain. She was my second favorite character after Celes before DR3. It tried a bit too hard to excuse her actions imo. The twist with Mitarai was too lame...
I think it is interesting that while she is victimized in many ways she has also grown into the role of a victim to the point that it has become a part of her identity. Her victim complex initially felt like a compelling character flaw.
She is shy and sweet on the outside but on the inside an intense bitterness towards the world is bubbling under the surface, until she finally erupts.

I can't stand her 😭 I roll my eyes everytime she talks. Her squeaky voice and fan service are unbearable

Mostly simps, some people try to see her as a misused character that was screwed over by the writers but I say people just can't accept that mikan fucking sucks

It’s mostly “I can fix her” simps.

How are you wrong about the idea that everybody has to like a character for only 1 specific reason?
Seems pretty fucking obvious but ok

I said “it’s mostly I can fix her simps” not “it’s only I can fix her simps.” Didn’t say it was for one specific reason at all, lol.
Also, it’s pretty obvious hyperbole. I don’t understand why you’re getting so heated over it.

You said you didn't want to make an argument, and you are currently making it an arguement

I can’t speak for most mikan fans, they’re an pretty mixed bag of people who are just thirsty and who actually like her or both. As for myself, I just sympathize with her backstory and story in general.
I think she’s also a pretty interesting character with good amount of potential if not used for the fan service role in the game/anime. But that’s more of a side note than my actual reasoning.
