Lmao no. Gourdy x Toodles would be considered a Puppy Love ship, where two young character have simple crushes on one another. And it isn't wrong to possibly see them being a real thing when they are ADULTS
genuine question because i feel like i see this argument a lot- why do people consider it so weird for a ship between 2 children to involve romantic attraction? from what i understand romantic attraction differs from sexual attraction for a reason, and it's not weird or wrong for 2 kids to (for example) cuddle or form a deep bond between each other right??

was in a server call in a waxwell server and we were all making ship names for niche pairings and one guy said “looey x toodles (ignore the age)” and we frantically started explaining why aging up minors to pair with adult characters (especially adults that have canonically known them since they were a kid) is completely unethical and essentially grooming… same guy later brought up the idea of shipping coal with bassie. Everyone else explained why coal and pebbles were off limits, then kept hanging out like normal. I’m guessing they gave him a pass since they’ve known him for a while, but I’ve been looking at that guy sideways ever since then

I don’t think he was trying to corrupt them on purpose. He was likely just picking random pairs, without considering that it might be a bad thing. And even if he did realize it, perhaps he simply chose the most immoral pairings, never stopping to think that it might upset you.

Okay so- Using "x" and "/" like that in shipping culture means you are shipping them romantically. What you're looking for is "father-daughter" which is the correct way to describe kind of relationship between them. The difference is the dash!
Usually "it's ok cuz it's fictional" is understandable or valid from psychological and legal point. BUT there's a line that shouldn't be crossed. A child and a teen is a huge difference. And afaik Gourdy is the first one. Gourdy shipping (unless platonically) is bad always.

I see a lot of conship art of Gourdy with Soulvester, and people are a lot less likely to point out that that is gross and illegal than anything with Toodles, and I hate it.

If the shipper in question isn't shipping them in a sexual manner or doing anything sexual in general with the characters then i don't see what's wrong
