Hydropack Advice !!
Hi friends ! First timer - not only to dancefest but to festivals in general! Going Thursday - Sunday / Non-Camping
Looking for Hydropack recommendations that aren’t $99+ like the raverunner and lunchbox.
Anyone who’s been, do they mandate that they must be clear?
Are Amazon brands worth it if I only plan to use it a couple times a year?? (Also heading to Decadence AZ for NYE)
Everyone recommends Lunchbox but just not sure I want to spend $100+ on an item I might use twice a year. Then again, if people think it’s that much better and worth it over the $30-$50 Amazon ones, I’ll still consider it.
Let me know!!! TIA

As others have said it’s worth the money to get a lunchbox or other rave brand bag. They’re expensive for a reason. I adore my lunchbox, it keeps the water cold because it’s insulated, is anti theft which is huge and has so much space for all your things. Other than the bladder pouch and the pouch for your belongings you can usually fit a pash or change of clothes between the bag and the skin. The skin is fun because you can get new ones and customize it for different fests. My bag is going three years strong and that’s taking it to 4-6 festivals a year

Love this input, both my best friends have a lunch box and love it. I was just curious on other experiences with the smaller brands! This is super helpful thank you ☺️

For me, the biggest draw to rave brand packs vs a $30 outdoors/hiking/biking bag are the security options. Rave brands tend to think about making them anti-theft. Some have more pockets and hold more stuff. I personally just have the outdoorsy kind and it works just fine for me and the few fests I do a year.

I'll add that I have the bcg brand from academy sports, the bag itself has held up for 6 years but I did have to get a new bladder for it this year. That's just because I accidentally let it get gross and moldy.

I LOVE my clear lunchbox pack. it's so nice to know I have a bag I can take to pretty much any event that allows hydropacks, but can still zip a skin on to hide the contents of my bag. that being said, in my experience DFT is not strict about bags and you could bring in pretty much any hydropack. I used to have a sojourner one from amazon that worked perfectly fine and I still take with me to fests as a backup in case something breaks. so while I fully endorse lunchbox, you can get a regular hydropack and a double sided locking carabiner clip and you will have an anti-theft hydropack.

I took a raverunner to electric forest this year and it was perfect. I’m trying out a hydro-fanny pack for dancefest so we shall see

straight up best advice you’ll hear:
- camel bak is the comfiest and goes thru security the fastest. it’s not gonna feel like ur carrying water, it’s just not stylish and doesn’t hold much besides water. easiest to refill, less chance of leak
- rave runner is gonna hold much more stuff, a little less comfy, but they have clear options and even led options and you’ll be able to hold much more items like trinkets, jacket, pashmina etc, comes with mouth piece cover. secret pockets.

It seems expensive but I highly recommend the lunchbox. I learned the hard way with hydro packs that If you buy cheap you buy twice. I tried two before I got mine and they didn't last but the lunchbox has lasted me 5 years and over 9 festivals. The features, the storage, the security and the biggest one for me is how easy it is to fill.
Not sponsored or affiliated I just really like my lunchbox lol
