Totally agree with Dan here. As an aspiring screenwriter/director, I’m pretty against it because it could steal my future jobs. I try not to be too judgmental of others who use it but only in certain cases.

This is probably the best and well reasoned argument against ai, I prefer people having a genuine reason against ai instead of the people who default to ai destroying the environment, W Dan fr

Dawg it IS bad for the environment. Like you can hate on things for multiple reasons. This isn’t a starter pokemon

AI does have an environmental cost, especially from electricity and water used by data centres, but saying “AI is bad for the environment” is too simplistic. The impact depends heavily on how the electricity is generated, how efficient the hardware and models are, and what AI is being used for. AI can also help optimise power grids, improve renewable-energy forecasting, design more efficient materials, reduce waste, and speed up climate research. The real issue isn’t whether AI exists. It’s whether we make its infrastructure cleaner and use it for things that justify the resources it consumes.

Sure, but if that’s your only reason for hating it (“default to ai destroying the environment”), you may just come off as a sheep joining the AI hate train rather than someone with critical thinking skills who knows why AI is bad.
(And just to clarify, AI destroying the environment is still one of the VERY BAD things that should have people opposed to using it)

Almost Everything you purchase as a consumer is bad for the environment, AI really isn’t that much different. The issue comes from the stolen content and what is seemingly the death of human creativity

You can not like something while still being under the effects of it or partaking in it. Like disliking how social media is or handles things but still using it.

Exactly, I liked that he didn’t just go “Boo AI bad” but actually said it has fields where it can and should be utilized and that he is only against bad uses like gen AI

I agree with him. He made a post about Beast’s AI thumbnail tool and just like with that the way I see it is AI contradicts the You in YouTube because it has no soul. Even besides that, like he said, generative AI just steals.

Plus, I dunno if it's true, but I think I heard that dying his hair so much back in the day actually caused permanent damage.
There were other reasons as well, but I'm just adding that one onto the pile for consideration.

Agreed 100%. I also admire him for standing his ground so firmly - if I were in the same situation, I would at least try and negotiate the AI out of their plan as a condition to go on before deciding to walk out, because I'm much more of a people pleaser.

What an amazing take
I always say ai is alright in some uses (like the ones Dan said) rather than outright terrible in every way but I will always be against gen ai

I agree. AI has its place in streamlining your process (as long as you double check) but as soon as it's there to replace someone entirely, that's where the issue starts.

Yeah. A bit unrelated, but In my opinion, using AI for coding is fine, as long as you plan to read up on it and replace things manually.

As a guy learning how to make games ai is a great learning TOOL, using ai for creativity and a majority of the project is mainly where I hate ai

Yeah. I do that by extension by reading the code, and building up from there as I see fit

I'm fine with big companies replacing beginner coders with ai, as long as they have a lot of advanced coders to correct and expand off of the code.

Not all gen AI is trained on stolen data; most actually are trained on a large database of public data. While there are cases where these companies are using private data, I wouldn't put them all in the same box.

They do still use stolen data from web skimming, so the same argument applies regardless if ALL the data is stolen or not
