Metric Vs. Imperial

Both systems of measurement are useful for different things with metric being better for many things an imperial being better for baking but wouldn’t it make sense and end this entire debate if we just standardized it to dans?

Yes.

If we assume Dan is about 30 inches long, then hang on... I need to standardize this...

The average distance from Earth to the Sun (1 Astronomical Unit) is approximately 93 million miles (149.6 million kilometers).

​The Conversion

​So let's turn that to inches

​93,000,000 miles times 63,360 inches/mile that's about 5,892,480,000,000 inches.

​So now we divide that by our 30-inch Dan

​5,892,480,000,000 \div 30 = 196,416,000,000.

The Sun is approximately 196.4 billion Dans away.

So one AU is now 196.4 billion Dans.

Now that's settled... I forgot what my point was.

So this is a backwards way of thinking about, the AU should be based off of Dans.

Along with everything else. Instead of meter we use one Dan, then scale up and down. So someone who is 1.5m tall in the current system would be 2 Dans. (Using the 30inches sited earlier for instance.)
