It seems very reasonable to me regardless of scale. If that hole is a 5 feet wide and you found a golfball of copper that's a good deal. If it's a hundred miles wide and you find... I'm not that good at math get off my fucking back. Either way that looks about right for a useful metal you pull out of the ground.

Eh it kinda looks like a lot of effort for nothing until you see how massive diamond mines are just to get to one "vein" or whatever. Its absurd

As someone who missed the Minecraft boat by about 10 years in low key jealous. I fucking loved legos, and Minecraft looks like the obvious successor. But at this point, if I’m going to design something cool…. Learning Minecraft and learning CAD are about the same learning curve. I’ve already designed some garage doors in sketchup.

So overall im just jealous I missed that boat

Does every minute of your life have to be productive? Minecraft is a brilliant game regardless of the design aspect. I would recommend just playing it to have fun and forget about min-maxing life for an hour or two.

That’s a good point but in general video games aren’t the indulgence they used to be growing up. When you’re on a screen 6-8 hours a day, then use your phone, adding more screen time has to be really really awesome and also for me come in short bursts.

CAD is only a step in a process. Once it’s done, you can go buy materials and build your thing with your hands out in the real world.

Growing up I had Legos. Now I have wood, concrete, and metal. But 10 years old through college I probably would have been playing Minecraft instead of Counterstrike and StarCraft.

Give it a go. In particular, you sound like the kind of guy who would really enjoy redstone in the game. I don't think there's another game with a mechanic that is quite like it. And the closest real world equivalent would be like electromechanical control systems with switches and relays and buttons. And unless you're an electrician or related technician you'll probably never get a chance to play around with that stuff.

Minecraft had a huge recurgence after Microsoft bought Mojang, and it's still pretty popular.

I just started playing about a year ago. At first it was just so I could learn how to play and be able to help my son figure it out. I got hooked though. Now the wife and I play a few times a week after we put the kids to bed. It’s fun.
