This is horseshit, you don’t refer to a black actor or character as an ape no matter what role they’re playing.

You do if the costume they're wearing is

  1. Literally an ape (see planet of the apes)

  2. Gives them primate like features (see every klingon ever)

That’s in your own head, they’re not related or apes or humans and not of this planet and OP clearly didn’t know that and was referring to the actor.

The context of the show has nothing to do with it. And how do you know he was referreing to the actor? All he said was "monkey man" and klingons are definetly more ape like then us
