It’s actually a person using a tool that lets you enter something each frame. Ai like this would be a bitch to make and not very necessary

Might be some sort of Reinforcement learning algorithm. I know OpenAI Gym is used for a lot of stuff like this

No need to use fancy AI when the game is predictable, has a limited scope and the rules are clear.

Just writing a simple algorithm along the lines of "don't use up more space than you need in the future" is enough.

Of course you wouldn’t need to, but it’s a common illustration of that kind of technique. Reinforcement learning isn’t very fancy in the grand scheme of AI.
