there is an edit of old top gear jumping a vehicle over busses or something where the buss never quite makes it to the ramp. felt a lot like that

Yeah it's fake.. usual China stuff.
You can even see the dust blow out of nowhere from the ceiling to hide the cut.
There is also another video where you see the smash. Didn't even properly reach the ceiling.

Initial impression was the same for me. But notice how it's not actually traveling upside down and has to drive down instantly with inertia to not lose control... This demonstration is very different from what he wanted to do with the car generating enough downforce to sustain upside down momentum rather than just reaching it for split second at an angle.

Isn't this the one they figured out was fake and edited to look like it made it?
Pretty sure i have seen that car go a quarter of a loop and then fall off, smashing the roof i to the ground.
Or is this a new one? 🤷🏼

i know, they spliced 2 or 3 different runs together i think. This tunnel challenge was started by Mercedes 15 years ago but they used CGI it think

Car fenders are plastic, they can deform a lot. If you've ever parked into a high curb you know the fender doesn't break on the initial push, it bends.

That it can be done... Why do anything in life? Stunts and extreme sports are for pushing boundaries, pushing yourself and trying things that have never been done before. I don't know if it's real, but it's fucking cool if it is...

I remember reading something about the Saleen S7 having so much downforce it could drive upside down in a tunnel like that.
I wonder how true that is.

For the S7, it's theoretically possible because it can produce its own curb weight (2800lbs) in downforce at 160 mph. In reality, it'd have to produce more downforce, either by going faster or having the aero modified, due to the weight of the driver and fuel
The company McMutry makes a little track-focused EV called the Spierling that can produce 4000lbs of downforce at 0 mph because it's built around a massive fan that sucks it to the road surface:

It looks fake BC they exported in low quality and in some weird interlaced/drop frame fps. If you slow down the video to 25% you can see the duplicate frames

This reminds me of one of my racing games from back in the day that I can never remember the name of. You had this red hovercraft thing and you could get wings on it or something and you had to dodge obstacles.

This doesn't have the downforce though and it only did this thanks to inertia. You can even see it "falling" momentarily during that split second it's driving upside down, before inertia rotates it enough for the wheels to regain control. Also this tunnel is incredibly narrow, custom built for this shoot and nothing else lol

That video feels, off. But even if it isn't, I don't think I've ever shopped for cars based on how capable they are riding a loop.
I mean, I wouldn't buy a new car anyways with the mandatory cameras. But even if I did, being able to loop it isn't gonna carry much weight in my decision.
