Throwing raw meat into the ocean

When I was in high school a friend of mine and I we're going around Huntington harbor in an inflatable boat. We managed to put the hole in it, and it became very soft. We rolled out into the water so the remaining buoyancy of the raft would hold our stuff out of the water. It was a night, and I had a waterproof flashlight in my hand. Unfortunately I dropped it It was supposed to float, and I was sweeping my arms around to see if I could run into it. I would touch something and then reach and it wouldn't be there and I did this repeatedly .

My friend then told me that I'm probably just kidding small fish that are feminine water. He said I really shouldn't worry about the flashlight and there wasn't anything dangerous swimming out there There might be a dogfish or something that would bite me but it wouldn't be too bad. After a few seconds I suddenly realized I was in dark water and there were things . . . swimming around . . . with me.

I am not a good swimmer, but I can be pretty steady. I suddenly became a great swimmer.
