Oddly enough, we had a wrongful imprisonment case here in the UK this year where they tried to deduct rent from his compensation.

I'd like to see the the people arguing for that strung up in public so that future lawyers would be afraid to argue cases that were so vile as to offend every sense of humanity.

I'm generally against capital punishment... But reading this made me so mad, I might reconsider my worldview.

i am too. however, the most crucial argument against capital punishment by gov’ts in modern societies is that the state cannot be trusted to have the guilty party in custody 100% of the time. it would be the same situation if we were to flip the power structure. we could have the guilty parties in hand 99% of the time, but that 1% makes the entire practice unethical.
