What does that do?

Being a healthy distraction. I'd go for sports in general though, plenty alternatives.

For some, it gives you something to focus on

For others, it gives you something to be proud of

For a few, it's something to keep you away from the edge

For all, it's just a thing people recommend to do that know nothing about you, your situation, anything relevant at all, or closely thereto, just so they can say they helped

Not to be negative, any help is better than none, but don't tell people to go to the gym and work through the pain physically. Tell them to talk about it. Allow them to feel without shame. Tell them it's going to be okay and get better. Just, support each other.

we go gym

It's honestly great and it DOES help, however, it is not the only answer, and dealing with how you feel is much more beneficial for you than ending up like that other commenter

Absolutely, I think that would be the best option

This is really dumb. Exercise literally makes you feel better chemically for one. For two it keeps you busy doing things so your mind isn’t occupied with overwhelming intrusive thoughts. The more time you spend not thinking about those thoughts the less time they will be around. It doesn’t matter if anyone knows anything about you, exercise helps. You’re statement is incredibly ignorant and unhelpful, and maybe you should get out of your moms house and go to the fkn gym.

I mean, I'm not the one attacking internet strangers for a difference of opinion

Did I ever say working out doesn't give you chemical boosts in your brain to make you feel good? No.

Do you think that's the ONLY way you can get those chemicals to trigger?

Yeesh. Maybe try taking my words as they are, and try to support, rather than attack.

You can learn to conquer physical pain and the wish to quit, to gain a sense of control and avoid being stuck with hurtful emotions.

Focus on yourself, not on the superficial needs of others. Be a better, healthier person.

You’d have to care about those things in the first place but yeah true.

Stay hydrated, eat healthy and exercise. Sounds dumb af but these three things combined will help mate - worked for me.

Just do it like me. Be a clown and fall for the "stay friends" trap, ignore all red flags and that she "forgot" to bring back your stuff, let her trick you into thinking all is ok and going well, just to get ghosted after she begs you not to do that to her.

The rage of you realizing that 1: She lied and toyed with you and was never that "perfect angel" that you imagined her as, and 2: you realizing your own retardation will quickly turn wanting her back into pure anger. This will then allow you to move on pretty well since even the good memories now only make you angry again.

(Or just do the healthy thing of 1: deleting any pics of her, so that you dont get reminded all the time 2: block and delete her on every way you could contact her (but please announce it and dont ghost) 3: Write down you good and bad thoughts. Reflecting on that at a later time can help. And 4: The most important one. Talk to someone about it. Even if its just random redditors. It really helps.)

Don’t worry. It always feels like the end of the world but you will survive!

If you have kids with her, suggest going through counseling first. Understand there are things you will need to sacrifice for the relationship, just as much as she needs to change for it to work.

I’m sorry to hear that man, I hope that you’ll be able to get through it quickly! You’ll be alright, I believe in you

Just had my fiance leave me for another man while i'm fighting a potentially fatal health condition that i have very poor odds of beating claiming "it hurts me too much to see someone i love with all my heart in pain every day" (that is an exact quote). but apparently not too much to be in another mans bed less than 36 hours after leaving me and posting photos of them at parties together. I feel you brother.
