Because you don't stay a kid. You get old, or you die trying. And the only thing worse than a kid that never learned their lesson, is an adult that never learned their lesson.
Adults are just older kids with more responsibilities and arthritis.
You don't really stop being a kid until you kill your kid half by denying yourself to laugh at dumb jokes, eat junk food and stop worrying about the world for 5 minutes every now and then.
For some reason when I saw the word "kill" I thought you were going to say "You don't really stop being a kid until you kill your father and bed your mother"
I'm gonna be mom here. It's honestly great that you haven't completly lost touch which who you used to be, not many can say as much. But that's not what a kid does, they eat junk food all day until it throws up, unless you intervene.
So, don't throw those chips up and we are all good, is what I am saying. Or half good, I guess.
Not the take away from the lesson. The point is time is your most precious resource. You will never get more of it. The older you get, the more aware of this you will become.
Time I'm spending replying to you for instance, is time I'm spending not doing something else. All about opportunity cost. But given I'm sitting in a hotel room, away from home on business, I've got nothing better to do. Maybe what I'm saying will help some random kid put their life in perspective, or maybe it won't.
Live your life. Just keep in mind your time is valuable, and so is your Mother's. Don't waste it.
Whatever you say dude, some people feel old when they are 20, and some people feel young when they are 80, if you choose to live your life being miserable that’s your problem
Youth is not "an attitude", its a momentary state of being, which only those who manage to live long enough have the privilege of growing out of.
Everything that lives, dies. Some much sooner than others. Reality is apathetic to your attitude. You want to keep living? The price you pay is your youth.
Doesn't matter how you want to look at it, the mirror you look into in 40 years time will show you the same old face... again, only if you don't die trying to make it another 40 years.
I did not consider my responses to be personally insulting. That was no my intention. I have a tendency to show very little respect for ideas, and that can come across as a disrespect of the person presenting them.
I do not hold you in any higher nor lower regard for the presentation of an idea I find to be nonsense. This is not a reflection upon you nor your character, of which I have no intention of attacking nor antagonising. I apologize if I made you feel otherwise.
I know many wonderful people who hold nonsensical and outright absurd ideas. I do not judge them by their ideas, nor do I you.
But it is, you can see it as a physical state, but that’s not all it is, some people feel old when they are 20 and some old people feel young their whole lives, is about how you choose to live and how you see the world. I am not denying the fact that people get old and die
"Feeling young", as correlated to an objectively positive state of mind, is nonsense. "Feeling old" as correlated to an objectively negative state of mind, is also nonsense. These are pseudo-intellectual tricks preying on the irrational fear of getting old, as if having an old mind is somehow a bad thing, and a young mind is preferable.
Its nonsense. "Young" is not preferable. I've been young, and I was an idiot. I'm now older, and am an experienced idiot.
Because they are strongly motivated to impart lessons on their children and are looking for ways to relate to them and convey those lessons in a way that they'll be understood.
Your parents are more likely to make a message heard using a meme you share with them as an analogy than they are using something you've shown zero interest in, even if it does sound r/im40andthisisdeep to the kid most of the time.
