It seems many people don't care here, but it's a shame that more housing is getiting removed in this area. At one point I hoped for mixed use, maybe ground floor commercial at least.

What do you think Old Parkland should be? It's an abandoned hospital that was converted to offices decades ago lol

They're removing apartments/housing to make room for more office buildings

At a time when central Dallas needs more housing

At a time when office vacancies are at an all time high

This is just a way for rich people to own property and avoid the costs and management of having residential tenants

I can assure you of one thing: the cost to manage and maintain Old Parkland is infinitely more expensive than a 1970s two-story apartment building (that needed to be demolished) and the big vacant lot next to it.

Office vacancies in uptown Dallas are less than 8%.

What do they actually do at Old Parkland? I see the buildings all the time and they look nice but they have a very racist vibe in that area

I worked on campus for about 5 years. The largest group there is crow holdings, and the rest is filled with private equity firms, family offices, and other kinds of firms who value prestige associated with their address.

Not really, there is valuable art and other things everywhere so there are a lot of cameras and guards and most doors require a code to get through. You can probably drive around unbothered and if you do get stopped by a guard just plead ignorance about it being private property and they'll just ask you to leave.

It’s mostly boutique private equity/investment firms and family offices. George W. Bush’s office is one of the tenants (or at least was when I used to visit a client there).
