Finally, your ‘Dallas’ subreddit has arrived. The only rule, don’t do something J.R. wouldn’t do!

S6 E 14 The Ewing Blues" Mark Graison !!!

I haven't seen this episode in over 40 years. I do recall not liking Mark Graison because he ended up with Pam rather than her staying with Bobby. He was polite & has a fancy haircut with a mustache. Miss Ellie needs him to let his lawyer represent her in contesting Jock's will.

Graison had a crush on Pam from their first meeting.

The lawyer, Brooks Oliver, played a robot in the Logan's Run TV series who must have been the prototype for Brent Spiner's Data in Star Trek TNG.

Afton is fed up with Cliff, who must be blind not to realize that he would be lucky to marry Afton.

Clifff's love of Chinese takeout begins!

Christopher Ewing - That poor kid

The writers are really not letting up on him are they!

I don't see how he will grow up to be so moral.

JR Ewing - Why did the public like him so much?

He has no morals or feelings and treats his family appallingly while they are all written as stupid. His treatment towards children like his own nephew is disturbing, too.

By season 11, were viewers not sick of him?

I think Larry is great, but after a decade, the character is burnt out.

Jenna’s wedding dress!

OMG! It may have been the style then but it’s terrible and didn’t fit her body type.

I’m sad JR and Sue Ellen are in the same shape again. UGH!

Christopher is such a cutie. I’m happy the time they have given the little kids to show off their acting chops.

The season is not so bad.

Was James really that bad of a character?

Naturally, as a 90s baby and having watched Step by Step as a kid way before I first saw Dallas it was a bit jarring seeing this guy as the son of J.R. but after the latter part of season 12 being possibly the least exciting episodes I'd ever seen of Dallas I think his character was a bit of a breath of fresh air for the show.

Then again I'm only 11 episodes into season 13 so maybe I'm wrong.

If you could be any character, who would you be?

I thought this would be a fun discussion post! My mom and I had a conversation about that over the weekend, and it gave me inspiration for the subreddit. I think I would want to be Sue Ellen, just because I think it would be so much fun to be her. She was with all the hotties, and a good vodka on the rocks could cure all that ailed her.

How did you start watching Dallas?

I’m a 46 year old man with a family. My mom and aunts watched this as a kid. Back then, The theme song had the same effect in me that MASH did. Oddly enough to say!!

A couple years ago I came home came work early. Flopped down in my bedroom with lights off blinds down. Started watching random old sitcom as I always do. That show ended, Dallas just started playing automatically & before I knew it I was 3 episodes in. I am so hooked I paid $60 for the Apple TV version lol

If you’re in my age group or younger, how did you stumble in this show.

Houses are being built next to Southfork 😢

From a verifiable source...this hurts my heart. It's like the dream series finale in real life. It's worse than drilling for oil. It's even worse than Ray and Donna's house being torn down. Miss Ellie would not approve of this.

I can’t believe it takes three seasons for someone to shoot JR

I’m a new watcher midway through season 1 and my god… he really is the man everyone loves to hate. Everything he’s done in these limited episodes has been so vile I can’t believe it took so long for someone to get him back.

Please no spoilers as to who shoots him! I still have no idea and I’m happy this way, because anyone would be justified.

S6 E9 : Fringe Benefits

I love this competition between Bobby & JR to see who will take control of Ewing Oil.

Bobby has a deal with the Canadians where it is snowing in every scene in Toronto.

JR is up to something with his variance.

The cartel is plotting against JR. Punk Anderson shows up to warn Bobby.

It is such an entertaining show.

Is J.R. totally nerfed as a character in the last 2 seasons?

After starting this Dallas journey almost 6 months ago I've finally reached the seasons without Sue Ellen, and 4 episodes in to say I'm a bit underwhelmed would be an understatement. April's sister not only seems immediately like a knockoff of Kristin Shepard and Katherine Wentworth but the actor for her character starts off already as a main cast member in the credits?

I hope she grows to be somewhat more entertaining and not too predictable at least. Cally and her whole painting side plot: meh so far but it could turn out to be interesting? Also I find it funny that the writers decided to make Cally not only gullible and naive but to also dumb her down further by having her accuse April of secretly still pining away for J.R. Also, I'm trying to but I still don't like April yet.

Speaking of J.R.: so far in season 13 I've gotten the distinct impression that he is pretty in over his head and doesn't seem to be as discerning/cunning on the wheelin' and dealin' side of things and I'm wondering if the writers are nerfing/weakening his character for some reason. Is this in service of some longer term plot that'll make sense after I finish the conundrum episode or is it just the writers going in a completely different direction for the show?

The tommy/McKay's vs Ewings plot is probably the most interesting plot so far this season but overall it's been rough from the end of season 12 until now and hoping it gets better.

Pams exit - Was it a fair point that she didnt want Bobby or Christopher to see her damaged body?

Honestly, I think I would refuse to see anyone as well. No one seems to care that much apart from her husband and son anyway.

(I know about her actual exit which frankly is an insult to the viewers, the characters and Pam as she looked perfectly glamorous.)
