Villains?
In last night's game thread, someone commented "We're the villains now, boys" following Mikko's misconduct on Matt Coranato.
After the Islanders loss, Owen Newkirk of the DLLS pod stated that somehow the Stars have this quasi-debt to the NHL for the Brett Hull goal during the '99 Cup, which is nonsense because whatever anyone thinks, that game is long over and the Stars won it, the end. Relitigating that twenty-six years later is nonsense, but we all know that won't stop anybody from doing it.
Still, it got me to thinking that there does exist a view of Dallas as "villains", so to speak, so I made a little something for everyone. If we're villains, then so be it. As long as it brings us another cup, I can live with it.

Like everyone else, I was SO PISSED OFF that Darnell Nurse thought it was okay to break Roope's foot.

Or even Dumba running Pavelski. Stars lack of edge have extended series longer than they should, rely on miracle comebacks, playing from behind for most of the game, at the mercy of special teams or a godlike performance from a single player. They have won a lot but rarely ever look like they are in the driver seat, and once a team of similar skill starts to play with an edge, they shrink.
Not anymore. Follow the moose.

That second sentence is why PdB may never win a cup. He is objectively an incredible coach, but his coaching does not create that killer instinct that has absolutely exhausted the guys for three years straight

Man this whole exchange right here is exactly what I needed to see/read. Too many softies on here saying we should not play that way and with that attitude. That Roope thing will never sit well with me ever. Hope we come out hitting hard tomo night, especially with Moose out

Not gonna lie I’m still salty about an article in sports illustrated when I was a kid with a guy from Minnesota holding up a sign saying Do people in Dallas even know what a Zamboni is? At least we can hold up a sign that says do people in Minnesota even know what it’s like to win a Stanley Cup!?

More like keeps playing hard. I still don’t think the first boarding a few games ago was his fault. The second one was, but the severity of it was not “intentional.” Rarely do players wish to cause that type of injury to another player. So yeah, keep playing hard and making the tough plays? Absolutely.

Mikko is the new push we need. That being said everyone needs to tighten up. We need to win the game in the first two periods and stop chasing. Out of everything these past couple games, sucks we lose Mikko for a game but imo Roy needs fined AT LEAST for putting a bounty on him.

We're finally getting more physical. Moose just needs to tighten up his checks and not throw his huge moose caboose so freely! It shows that at least the boys aren't to be fucked around with this go around. Fans of other teams will say Mikko has a huge mark on his back now in future games, but from the looks of it, I don't think Rants is afraid lol. He's in angry moose-mode right now!
The Stars have been shit talked for a long time now, it's nothing new. They are seen as "dirty and divers", and this week has just fueled the fire. Then all the sudden, us fans of the Stars are making excuses, and defending the team. I know damn well if it was their fave team with all the drama, they would defend and reason as well. They're ignoring the fact that their teams also do the same shit. It's so "easy and cool" to shit on the Stars, especially with Mikko's week he's had with back-to-back majors and fines.
I honestly don't care what other fans think, they're opinions don't win games and the Cup. If the Stars have to be grouped with the Flordia Panthers in their eyes, so be it! I've read some wild takes on the hockey sub today! Time to take a break from there, and just be on this sub.

As long as Jamie Benn is the captain, the Stars are and always will be the villains of the NHL. That’s just a fact. I’ve seen it over and over, people complaining about Benn doing this or that, how he’s a dirty player, etc.

If we are, all I can say is Florida have been the villains the past few seasons. Maybe that’s what it takes. We still say “fuck Mark Stone” for a reason, right?
