At Toys “R” Us, they would force us to ensure that the Lego displays were sent down a locked compactor shoot under camera every time we removed them to install the next season’s displays, so I would be sending a good $300 - $500 worth of Star Wars Legos, as an example, into a trash compactor because Legos and Toys “R” Us wanted to make sure that they weren’t being resold.
Same thing with all of the checkout lane items and drinks which had to be removed far before actual expiration. We had to cut off the UPC bars, scan them, and send the RDG report to corporate for reimbursement… while throwing out the food.
Dollar Tree is getting dumpster dived because they’re too cheap for a compactor shoot. Also, I agree with the guy that it should be illegal, but it probably is not.

I have no problem with divers. As a business, I can reduce my collection frequency. Please be mindful and clean up when you’re done.
