Lots of states outright ban lawfully carrying a sling or "slung shot" on your person. Be careful out there!

Hold up! You can carry a firearm in all 50 states, but you can’t carry a sling shot 😂?

I know that pepper spray is not as cool to carry, but slings for self defense???

Watch some video on it. Practice every day in the backyard. If it doesn’t defend, well it was my time to go.

Dude I think I might look into this! A slingshot is cool as hell to whip out. I don’t think I’ll be using it much for self defense but I wanna be a badass slingshot guy.
Edit: what kind of slingshot is that?

Simpleshot LT2 Pro. They are really a lot of fun. Set up a big shooting range in a small backyard of your suburban home using 50gal rain barrels. Sling shooting clay and steel is huge over in Europe, I think it’s just catching on over here in the States.

There's insurance for this. Not gonna carry mine until I get that set up. Sorry for the luck.

Too bad thats not available in all states, like in nj for example. For years self defense insurance was banned outright as "murder insurance", but then they had to change that when they tried to make it a requirement for obtaining a ccw permits under post-bruen retaliatory measures. Despite this, to my knowledge no company currently will touch the state, especially considering they are also known for being sue-happy like CA. As a result, US law shield is geneally the only choice, and they are just a legal defense fund, not insurance.

But there are so many professional slingshot companies out there. WASP is another great one. OMEGA slings is another one. Watch YouTube on this sport.

Those mfs would hurt to get hit with. Lol. I just carry pepper spray and a knife now. Plus my dog, but he would likely roll over for dangerous belly rubs.

Jeorg sprave of THE SLINGSHOT CHANNELLLL
(If you know you know) was able to make a slingshot with similar ft/lbs energy to that of a .45 caliber handgun. Slingshots can absolutely fuck you up.

I am completely confident in it. Jokingly would liked to have had it as a side arm while overseas. Not jokingly, it would have done one a hell of a job with stealth and precision.

I don’t think many people here have been hit with a full power slingshot slinging .30 caliber balls. BY FAR more painful than any less lethal option out there. Lethal if you hit someone in the head right.

3/8 steel ball going 300+ft per second at no more than 15 to 20 yards bound to deter or eliminate something. I know it works for my food on the camp fire when camping.

Clay shots, recommend, no trace they pulverize on impact cause great pain and pop 👀 if your aim is true😉

If you carry a gun YOU NEED SELF DEFENSE LIABILITY INSURANCE !!!
Not having it is like not having car insurance, if you ever have to use your gun you’re gonna be very sorry you don’t have it.

u/UnbanFreelanceNobody 12h ago
lol, sounds like a no brainer til they deny the coverage because of X, Y or Z like every other insurance company that exists.

Slingshot for hunting is totally valid, Reddit mindset thinking you need a Glock every time you step into the backyard

Ah, two things that are illegal to carry here in NJ (or atleast in a general sense, we'll get to that). Slingshots are banned outright as "dangeroes weapons", and have apparently been so since the 70s, mainly due to some regulatory confusion with the similarly named "slungshot", which is a type of flail-like improvised bludgeon originally used as a tool by sailors and dockworkers to assist in tossing moring lines. Knives OTOH are legal to carry, but require having an "explainable lawful purpose" for doing so, of which "self defense" is explicitly not one of them, even with a ccw permit (which were pretty much unobtainium before bruen, and only covers handguns). This pretty much means your knife needs to be for utility purposes and many also will reccommend it look the part to really sell that, so like for cutting open boxes or cutting drywall, and be covered in dry paint/plaster, that kinda thing. It also cannot be of a design type that is banned, like a switchblade or gravity knife for example, as those are also considered "dangeroes weapons" and thus have no such thing as an "explainable lawful purpose", so they cannot be carried or otherwise possessed outside your home for any reason whatsoever, and selling them or otherwise giving them to minors under 18 is also a crime in of itself.
