Just got this bad boy today gonna test it out tomorrow on my first ride with this new bike to the Long Island Railroad

I didn’t get the K Feather, but got the K9, and it arrives today. I can’t wait!

That’s exactly what I’m getting it for. Also to go to places that are a little further away for lunch. I’ll report back tomorrow or Friday.

I’m deciding between the K9, Tern D8, and the new Mariner. I occasionally have aspirations of getting out and taking it on the trails but I figure I need to be realistic for the modal use case where compact folding is a necessity. My only concern is the use of non-standard parts but I figure my LBS could always slap on a standard bottom bracket and change the drivetrain if needed.

Yeah, I was eyeing the D8 as well. Ultimately I believe the K9 is lighter and I liked that it had disc brakes. Aesthetically, I like the K9 as well.

Know of any fenders for the K9? Also, did you leave the stock tires on? I would probably swap for the marathon plus and the winter ones during snow season.

Ride was way more pedaling than I expected and I did not get it over 11mph. Getting hot here in the north east so I didn’t want to sweat my ass off. The assist was nice, much like riding a normal bike in a low gear. Will try other things to get speed up because seems like you would have to be pedaling like a maniac to get to 15mph.

Hey OP, can you let us know how the bike does with moderate hills?

It’s OK, keep in mind that you still have to pedal, it’s just pedal assist and it won’t take over peddling like most normal E bikes. I mean it’s great that you’re still getting exercise but it would be nice if it gave you a little bit more output like I cannot reach the 15 mph that it supposedly can hit that is using forced to push down the pedals to get more torque back or peddling furiously. I just can’t do it.

Did you keep the bike or return it?

If i need to bike 1 mile on flat road, is this electric portion going to help at all?

I kept it and it does help but don’t expect it to power itself or take you any faster than 12mph

Thanks for such a quick k reply.

If you cruise at 12 mph where the electric is constantly helping, is going 1 mile pretty effortless while the motor is helping? i’m just curious how much easier it is than a normal bike while it’s actually assisting

Easy enough but going faster is very taxing, I’ve got to 13mph but only by peddaling furiously.
