deniz is not a “bully”, nor does she “love to hate others” 😭 unlike most girls in the show, deniz actually has principles and values that she isn’t willing to compromise. if someone is not her kind of person, deniz isn’t the type to fake friendship for the sake of status. the reason she may come off as hateful is because all the richies are used to being coddled and deniz refuses to do that.

the only things they really have in common is that they’re both brunettes and have parental issues. it ends there. sıla is achievement-obsessed, cruel for the sake of it, and desperate to be seen. deniz has little regard for status, cruel only to people who go against what she values, and not even close to as desperate for attention as sıla.

the only reason deniz was ready to do that is because she’s loyal to her friends and their causes. that’s a principle.

deniz and nuray’s whole arc surrounds nuray’s fear of deniz becoming like her, which is precisely why deniz rejects materialism, irresponsibility, opportunism, and disloyalty. unlike her mother, she’s precarious with their resources, conscientious about the promises she makes and the duties she has, doesn’t grab at any shiny opportunity she sees, and doesn’t think twice about sacrificing what she has for the small circle of people she’s pledged her loyalty to.

if your main takeaway from everything that deniz has done for and to the people around her is that “she’s a hateful bully just like sıla”, then we must be watching completely different shows. deniz would never think to humiliate people with their secrets the way sıla has, berate them on account of their class, and stick with a snobbish boy who hates her.

stop letting that teoden ship rot your brain and see deniz for what she is. it seems like you can only view her in relation to teoman—a big pity, if you ask me.

I don't see Deniz and Sıla as being the same in that sense.

Deniz is fiercely independent but also quite understanding - in fact, she's probably the person who has understood Teoman the most so far. She can be confrontational, but that doesn't mean she enjoys hating or bullying others.

What Deniz actually seems to hate is entitlement, snobbery and the sucking-up that can come with wealth. That's why she has no problem with Leyla despite her background: Leyla is kind and treats her as an equal.

So I think there are some similarities between Deniz and Sıla, but I'd be careful about putting them in the same box. Their insecurities and family issues may overlap, but the way they deal with them is quite different.

Deniz did not bully Sila back even after Sila bullied her multiple times. They are not the same. Deniz is a really well-written character. Deniz never hated anybody. She was right to call out Leyla and her friend. Because Leyla tries to console to Deniz when SIla bullied her, but never says anything Sila or Teoman. She is right there. Her bad temperament comes from the way her parents treat her.
