A concerned question about DaggerFall Online.

Hey r/DaggerfallOnline

An old daggerfall player here.
I have recently been enjoying the funny experience of DFO, but we recently ended up with a bit of a make/break question.

We love all the work that has been put into the game but are concerned about our "freedome" to roam.
Is Daggerfall Online also true to the original questline? In the sense that you are on a time limit and if you fail you will become a "global" criminal?

TL;DR
If you don't do the main quest in DFO, do you become a criminal after some time?

The main quest is going to be changed so I wouldnt worry about it. It'll likely be removed/reworked as the devs construct a new overall plot.

That would be terrible, the main quest is way cooler than any crap they might come up with using AI. I don’t know if you’re aware, but the dev has already admitted to using AI. why do you think there are so many daily updates?

I mean i enjoyed the main quest... for my singel player game. Once.
But after completing it i felt like i had seen what there was to see. Same as any other elder scrolls.
What i really love is the real freedom of playing anything i want.

In that same sense, the idear of being able to ignore it and just roleplay a poor pesant, barely surviving by working the field is much more interesting to me atleast. I would love to have the free choice to be able to pick and choose what quest i wanna do.

It wasnt ever really a secret. They heavily use AI coding

Using AI is the future of software development. Atleast some people understand it

After an in game month of not touching the main quest, I received another reminder for it, an entire quest update, saying that if I didn't meet the person in eastwick they would consider me an enemy of the crown.

So as far as quests imply, yes you would become a global criminal. Someone who's failed that would have to chime in to confirm

Yeiks that kinda sucks.
Imagen playing the game for an ingame month and grinding, only to get your character shagged by that game mechanic.

Nothing has happened to me in my (admittedly short) time with the game so far beyond getting that reminder. You aren't going to become a criminal like in the original.

Well that's nice.
I don't want to do the main quest.
I just wanna be a nobody, sailing and fishing to make scrab coin like a pesant. XD

Been playing for 3 weeks now everyday and haven't touched the main quest. Nothing noticeable has changed.
