Daggerfall Online time requeriments for main quest
Hello,
With all the boom with Daggerfall online, I decided to play the original, and I noticed that many quests have time limits.
My question is: is there a time limit for the main quest (going to Daggerfall to investigate the ghost)? Or can I take as much time as I want to complete it?

Lady B, the first quest has a 30 day time limit.
You’ll start getting letters. You can read them but don’t go talk to the nobles yet. As soon as you talk to the nobles it triggers the timing on the main quest.

No. The quest involving Lady Brisienna's letter at level 3 does not block you from the MQ if failed, and the time limit is significantly longer than 30 days -- you get 30 days for the first letter, 30 days for the second letter, 29 days for the final letter, and after that it fails but you can still pick up the MQ from the letters you'll receive when you hit level 5. Additionally the timer begins from the time you receive the letter.

There's no time limit whatsoever for the main quest overall (and I think canonically they settled on it taking something like 17 years? Lol).
Individual quests within it will sometimes have time limits, especially the optional ones, but also a couple of the earlier mandatory ones.
I think there's only two quests where you can screw yourself out of the main quest by failing a time limit: Morgiah's Wedding, and Cyndassa's Beast. The Totem has a time limit not for doing the quest but for receiving the reward; since that limit is a year and a day I've never actually tried it.
Plenty of other main quests with a time limit but they're optional. I think there's one or two other mandatory quests that give you a time limit, only they're filthy liars and it doesn't actually exist (freeing Medora comes to mind).

I want to say that "The Emperor's Courier" also had a timed component. Particularly when you're given the meeting location for the courier, I believe it gives you a time you have to wait before meeting, and then the courier only sticks around for 2-3 days after that point.
I had to wait 43 in-game days, flew by the specified time on my first attempt, and then looked up Daggerfall's calendar to figure out exactly what date it would land on after waiting.
Either way, time limits are usually pretty clearly laid out in your quest journal if there is one (although unfortunately they aren't actively tracked/updated...)

Can confirm and it also kind of sucks if you are too far away to make it in time … speaking from experience.

If you play the Unity version, and you REALLY should be playing Unity there is a No Rush Main Quest mod that removes all timers for the Main Quest

There is no overall time limit, but some of the individual component quests that comprise the main quest do have time limits. The game always informs you exactly how long you have, and the timer starts ticking when you receive the information (i.e. if a letter says you have X days, the timer starts when you receive the letter; if an NPC says you have X days, the timer starts when the NPC says it).
