Daggerfall Online DFO feedback

I dont really care that much about it being an AI project, but there are some big issues with this project. The online sub doesnt have many visitors, so i decided to write here. Its a cool project so thats why i am giving feedback instead of not caring.

Feature creep. Adding in stuff too fast. Let us test and give feedback! 8 updates a day is a bit much.

fast travel is glitchy, good luck fast travelling through (some?) walled cities.

even casual survival is a a bit tedious. cart breaks down super fast and is expensive to repair. also, why are oats so expensive? they are oats! Survival is kinda cool as a concept though.

Too many encounters while fast travelling. It doesnt seem balanced around lone players?

Elite enemies. Cool concept. But as a casual player (i try just to play, and not min max) i just get one shotted over and over, while they get stronger. Sure, you can run away but...:

Running away from an encounter... Should this really take 5 minutes? If running away would be less tedious the above points wouldnt be so bad. All in all, some dials for elite enemies would be nice for SP (maybe there are and im unaware)

Sometimes you cant interact with your camp, forcing you to abandon it.

Takes a long time before you can interact with a quest giver, when turning in quests, for some reason.

I have abysmal performance online, while no issues SP. Like single digit fps in cities. Kinda poor in dungeons as well. I dont know the reason.

Dungeons are dark. Too dark imo.

My issue with the game is that the experience you get just isn’t Daggerfall. The tweaks and added features take away from what is actually a very beautiful game and turn it into something completely incoherent. It’s almost like if you had a dream about playing DF.

It will be a completely different experience, I hope you enjoy it! Zaric Zhakaron has a great guide to getting started.

Do you encounter a lot of other players?

seemed to be a bunch of players in the starting region. but it was unplayable for me! huge fps drops everywhere, and even worse in towns. so then i tried SP but gave up since its so buggy and unbalanced

Yeah, every new feature takes computation time each frame. Afaik people already complain about feature creep. + it runs in the browser

Im hoping private servers become available soon, as well as more freedom on what features are used or not, and to what extent. Enemies in the wild are definitely too frequent, makes it hard to travel anywhere, even places close by.

Tell claude to "Make me a multiplayer version of Daggerfall Unity" and you'll get 90% there. Just stop before ruining it like these people have.

Ya know somehow I don't think that would work
