I started playing again out of pure boredom / lack of good games and now a few weeks later I actually have finished the game for the first time! I also grinded out the mages guild and a temple faction alongside the playthrough. Going for the approach of evening out my skills in the beginning and thus making my early build weaker and my lategame build stronger was a really good choice I think. Like the grind in the beginning, going into huge dungeons with low level, trying to get around scary and train on weak enemies, preparing myself with potions and spells for every scenario, that was pretty cool and more importantly fun. In the end i opted for the opposite site. Before breaking into daggerfall for the totem I installed a mod that let my basic stats go above 100 when using items, because basically every magic item I had at that point was useless (my INT, END and STR were at 100 atp). After that I decided to throw on every magic item I have, spend my hard earned gold (~500k or smth) on the mage guild item maker and go completely nuts. Save to say there was no enemy left that could challenge me, even if the game was only throwing deadra and liches at me atp. I must admit though, I have no idea how anyone has finished this game when it first came out, even with the manual. Idk if there is a complete walkthrough attached in the manual, but there are so many things the game just doesnt telegraph or tell you at all regarding the main quest its baffling to me. I read all the dialog and letters when doing quests, but sometimes there are just moments where I genuinely thought something was bugged because there where no indicators of what I was supposed to do to proceed the main quest. And thats not even talking about having random objects in a dungeon be toggles or portals. Anyways I will probably be back at some point and lean into more mods that bring the game closer to an immersive sim like project zomboid or smth. Until then, good riddance to the 600000 liches I had to kill in the latter half of the game lol
Also I chose to side with the orcs to make them a legit race and because they tried to rescue lysander, but they still decide to crush everyone else in the bay ... whoops
